Somalia is 2,000 years behind developed world

It's not the only nation behind the times. But it would do very well in any race for that category. I often have internal head shake when I witness the simplistic optimism of those who, for various reasons, fail to recognise this prevailing reality. I believe if people actually acknowledged the situation for what it really is it would go a long way to getting Somali people out of it.

If you think I'm wrong, then think about it. What are the biggest achievements of Somali people to date? Somalis haven't contributed anything to humanity. They haven't contributed iota to any field of human knowledge. The average Somali grows up being fed superstitions that cloud his or her perception of the world, and dies tightly holding onto them.

You often see Somalis complaining about racism in the developed world -- which is fair enough -- but it seems the irony is lost on them in that they are the biggest perpetrators of the very same problem they complain about. There are entire tribes in Somalia who are shunned and victimised. Anyone who so much as likes a person from that the said tribes gets into an immediate trouble, and those who dare to date/marry them is at the very least disowned and often murdered.

Here is a list of notable Somalis through out history

EDIT: Meh, didn't even know that one of the Historians that Documented the Napoleonic wars in Egypt was Somali.
Interesting :yacadiim:

We should all be asking those people forgiveness and give them their rights. So long these injustices prevail in our lands we will never prosper.

In what world did they have cars, smartphones, television, internet, automatic weapons etc 2,000 years ago?

None of the people in that page contributed anything of note. The fact that they are listed there with so little or nothing of value achieved is a testament to the point that I'm making. Have you heard of the big fish little pond syndrome? It's exactly that at work. You see no matter how underachieving or backward a society is they always have something to celebrate; which in turn fuels the illusion that they mean something to humanity. Now, even if any of them achieved something noteworthy, everyone on the list might be ethnically Somali but born or adopted elsewhere so it would be very hard to attribute their 'achievements' to Somalia.

So let me get this right. The mere fact of having these technologies means they have achieved something or made a contribution to humanity? My mind boggles how your logic works here! I mean, unless these technologies were invented by East African goatherders.

Thank you, it's very hard to find someone who sees the problem. In fact, reading around a bit in this forum it seems many users are in fact so ignorant that they celebrate the tribalism that held back their people for so long. It's very hard to understand why people who live in Somalia are oblivious to the root causes of their problems, but it's even harder to understand how someone who grew up in Europe or America can still fall victim for the same stupidity. In fact, it's shocking!

Somalia is not that far off. With the advances in technology and education Somalia could be on the top half within two-three generations. Dubai went from a desert to a worldwide name and blooming advanced city in 20 years.

All it takes is the money and energy which we can easily harvest from oil and solar & wind, a visionary leader and a willing/submissive people

To bad we don't have the last 2. And without them the first 2 won't happen or will be exploited

They are present in Somalia and by definition Somalia cannot be 2,000 years behind the ''developed world''. Fucking moron.

A third of qabiilists deliberately hide their qabiilism, a third are out and proud qabiilist and another third have no real understanding of the fact that they are genuine qabiilist. I had a convo with a particularly pathetic qabiilist on this website, she's blissfully unaware of her own revolting qabiilism, it's incredible how stupid some people are. I think them and the first group are the main issue. They're also quite difficult to tell apart. Don't get too discouraged by the comments on this website, a lot of people spout nonsense as a reaction to something, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are genuine qabiilist. There are a fair few trolls too. The genuine delusional and decrepit qabiilists are a minority imo.
But nobody really ever mentions the abused minority tribes, at least not often.

It's truly incredible that you have the audacity to call someone a "moron" when your logic so incredibly fallacious that a talented fifth-grader could have pointed it out. But I'm going to explain it to you as one would to a less talented fifth-grader. You see you're confusing exposure with achievement. Yes, Somalia is exposed to technology. If it wasn't, then that would have been a surprise. But in terms of development - be it social, scientific, political -- it's yet to reach that of Greece 2000 years ago (fifth grade history). You think just because Europeans invented satellites and telephones and gave it to you for a price you're not behind the world! It's really adorable that you believe that.

Dubai isn't really a good example, though. Yes, what you said of it is true, but it's tantamount to some classless clown who had just won the lottery. Their universities are bad, their education is quite horrible, they have no world class research institutions, and they lost whatever motivation they had when they had won the oil lottery.

Envious? Oh, please! If I was suffering from a social envy of sorts, I would have gone to a forum of society that actually achieved something to be envious about.

I find tribalism so abhorrent it revolts me! I think what you said makes a lot of sense, especially about those who have no real understanding of their tribalism. I've met so many individuals of this kind who sometimes even like to think that they are anti-tribalists. Some even subdivide tribalism into good and bad (ridiculous I know, but I've heard it).

That's why it's paramount that Somalia thinks long-term instead of short-term

Focus on education, use money to build infrastructure and pay for the most talented children to receive top western education. Create mandatory conscriptions with exceptions and create undistries around our resources like salt, oil, uranium, limestone, granite, marble and mainly shipping & transport. We are strategically placed in the most eastern point in Africa which means India and China could and should become large trading partners. They make cheap goods and Africa can't afford much other than cheap goods. Building large ports and highways capable of transporting to other African nations will do good for our economy.

That alongside stability and safety can lift Somalia far up the ranks. Emphasis on can as it would need big cultural and societal changes to even be imaginable.

Smh Somolians

Zimbabwe isn't expected to be a developed country until the year 4700. I wonder when Somalia will become developed.

FFS Look at this self hating idiot lol. Instead of whining and complaining on the Internet and feeling sorry for us go contribute something to the community.

2000 years kulaha. Are you even Somali?

Obviously 2000 years is a figure pulled out of one's asscrack, but Somalis need to hear this kind of criticism until it sinks in and drives us to action of some sort lol.

Somalis are blindfolded to reality by the wall of our arrogance.
