Electrical prices are killing average consumer in somalia. Average monthly electrical use in Minnesota is 775 kWh this usage is probably not possible in most african household but will just use it to compare monthly bill differences of our neighbors

Somalia bill = $1kwh*775= $775 per month
Kenya Bill = .16*775= $124

How can you start manufacturing business with these kind of overheads. How can you study using light, stay cool, cook food, and refrigerate food with these kinds of prices

Project being implemented to better synchronize diesel generators and reduce wet stacking and efficiency losses. The agrresive 4,6000 MW goal by 2037 I will try to share details when I am able to find electrical master plan. It looks like ministry of energy might have taken it down. If you have it please share here

Need more details but as part of electrical master plan somalia is to receive 150M in electrical projects. I'm fairly certain Puntland is to be excluded

Most African countries have dams don’t they? Don’t see that happening enough at scale to help Somalia. World Bank’s vision is importing electricity from Ethiopia

Yeah there was study back in 80s for us to get gardheere dam and provide power in south. There is also fanoole dam that is no longer operational.

the goal is 4.6 gw by 2037 it’s seems super aggressive the gerd dam is like 5.15 gw I believe. Hopefully once master plan is put up we can see if dams and what else is included to reach goal

Dams, Power stations and transmission lines to also be built in Baidoa and Bardheere, as well as a highway to further developments in the region. It could solve any power issues we have in the future if implemented. Somalia all over needs such projects that compliment one another to state success where we’ll all benefit mutually.
