Somalia needs a powerful leader like Saddam Hussein

He has collected all the foreign spies in one place and executed them all for conspiring against Iraq and government. We too need a strong handed leader who will discipline the skinnies. I dont care his tribe but he must be harsh on all and establish law and order.

The only dictatorship I would ever accept is if it were like Egypt under Sisi or Singapore.

A dictator that is focused on development and raising HDI indicators. As long as they do that and keep an appropriate foreign policy approach, I can (albeit begrudgingly) look past their corruption/autocracy.

But Somalia will never be able to have this so for that reason, I’ll always be pro-democracy.

@Periplus maybe we should be a benign semi-autocracy like Morocco (but as a Republic obviously). We could have a president for life who shares executive and legislative powers with respectively a PM led government and a democratically elected Parliament

At that point, we might as well have a constitutional monarchy.

But we all know every qabiil will kill each other over who will rule.

An interesting solution is the Malaysia approach, in which the monarchy is rotated every few years to each region.

Democracy will never work in Somalia due to tribalism and nepotism. We will forever be ingrained in this mess.

@Periplus maybe we can partially combine the UAE and Malaysia approaches for choosing our Republic's head of state. Every year on a rotational basis one of the five FMS sees its president simultaneously serves as the federal president

Nah, I don’t agree with that. I think we should dismantle tribal states and institute a constitutional monarchy that rotates to each qabiil every few years.

Each qabiil can also every decade or so, which nabadoon or boqor represents their qabiil.

Consider it a nicotine patch for qabiil hungry Somalis. Get rid of qabiil in day to day life but give their elders some ceremonial title every few years.

Isn't monarchy in the modern age unlawful according to Islam? I don't like the concept of your birthright being part of the criteria of employment

PS It's not right to dismiss the current FMSs as tribal enclaves when we can encourage clan mixing in every state, region and city/town. Our laws are in theory meritocratic

These odays already think they’re royalty. Might as well give them something to do lol.

Make them work for their entitlement.

Monarchy only works in limited geographical areas
