The problem is that Marehan want to centralize power again, not some cuqdad that MJ have. Farmaajo is actively undermining the principle of federalism, something that most MJs value. I oppose Farmaajo not because he is Marehan, but because he wants to reduce the powers Puntland has accumulated over the past 21 years. Farmaajo wants to end Puntland’s semi autonomous status, something that was hard earned. He wants Mogadishu to be able to dictate to the federal states. The problem is that Mogadishu, or the FGS, has a Hawiye bias. Any power that accrues to Mogadishu is an advantage for the Hawiye over Darood. Keeping the federal government weak is CLEARLY in the interest of Darood. Farmaajo disagrees. He is president because of 4.5, and yet refuses to serve with the interest of his larger clan in mind.

When a Hawiye replaces Farmaajo, all of the power he managed to clawback from the federal states, will be used against Puntland. This is why I oppose Farmaajo, and it has nothing to do with him being Marehan.
