In the following months of this year, we'll extract crude oil worth billions. The President is in Saudi Arabia to grant Somalia membership in OPEC which is an organization of Oil Producing countries. Meanwhile, some low-IQ qabiilist leaders are pleading to Ethiopia, a nation that is drowning in debt and civil war which has no future with an exploding population traitors will never see a single dollar from the oil revenue let them beg the Oromos they're running to now .

Do you have any idea how long it takes to find, develop and begin production of an oil field? It takes a minimum of 10 years. In the case of Somalia, a country with 0 infrastructure, it will take at least 15. If oil were found today, production would not begin until ~2040 that production would begin.

ps. Very irresponsbile of the national broadcaster to use an incorrect map of the FMS. Stupid

You're talking about the old way of Oil extraction in 1960s where it used to take more than 10 years but Little did you know that the world has gotten more effective and fast when it comes to oil extraction takes only minimum 3 months now.

You also have to actually explore and drill to prove the existence oil reserves. There is zero proven economically exctractable offshore oil in Somalia as of today.

Oil production of meaningful scale in the near term is complete hopium. People are putting the cart before the horse :francis:

Beyond the fact that this will take many years to come online....

The government will protect itself with its foreign defence pacts and sell the oil through the international markets. Why do you think this has anything to do with you? Unelected government will remain unelected.

Federalism just gutted so no local autonomy. You'll get given crumbs at most and if you rebel, well then all those defence pacts are for you too.

The government has no reason to bargain with you or deal with you.

Right now the government is on the leash. The international community are forcing it to behave to some standards. When it has oil and Turkish Navy and Eritrean ground forces protecting it. Do you think it will be a democracy or need your opinion?

Put two and two together before it's too late.

Exxon discovered oil in Guyana in May 2015. Guyana is a western hemisphere country, had existing contracts with Exxon, and was able to move as quickly as possible. And yet, production did not begin until 2020.

Somalia would be lucky to begin producing oil a decade after discovery, if that ever happens.

Why would the FGS want a Somali navy? Or even a strong army? You think they didn't study history?

Better to have international defence pacts that way you can avoid a military coup.

The FGS knows it has no real popular support, so it's not going to take those kinds of chances.
Any Navy will be a weak and mostly for show. Like many gulf state armies.

Tbh we must have strong navy we have the longest coastline in the entire African continent and we're surrounded by volatile regions
