Somalia Partnership forum 16-17 July 2018 in Brussels

The High level Partnership Forum that dictates policies for Somalia will meet in Brussels next week.

It will be co-chaired by Sweden and Somalia with President Mohamed Abdullahi attending.

Their main objective is policy setting, security and humanitarian.

It is not clear yet if Somaliland will attend or not. Given the current Tukaraq situation Muuse Biixi should attend or at least have some people there.

To support peace and democracy in Somalia, Minister for Foreign Affairs Margot Wallström, EU High Representative Federica Mogherini and Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed will host a forum in Brussels on 16-17 July.

This is where future arrangements are made and political decisions. Nothing passes by this High Level Partnership Forum.

There is no indecisiveness so if you get on the wrong side or lose support you will be hard pressed.

Sandvaer things have changed drastically. Somaliland need to lobby and knock on every door to stop an Puntland attack. They are in a hard place.

A Somaliland delegation made up of traditional elders and religious scholars are right now in Garoowe to evade war.

I do not want to see any war but Puntland is preparing a clan war in Northern Somalia similar to the one when Gaalkacyo was occupied.

Daily new militia arrive to the battlefield which is a threat for the relative peace in Northern Somalia.

Somaliland has military power if they stand together. That is what they are working on now, tribal support. Then they will try to secure its border. If they will succeed or not I can't say for sure. I don't think Muse Bihi will go back on what he said about it. He has been waiting a long time for this.

If you look back Somaliland tried to negotiate before and got nowhere. Only to be made to look like a fool. When Europeans get scared of refugees, they will force Somaliland and Somalia back to the table. Only then does Somaliland have anything to offer.

Ask yourself why IC would start to mess/talk with Somaliland at this time. Still, Somalia is in very bad shape. So why make more trouble than they already have. Fix one problem at the time.

Puntland is semi autonomous. It has it is own constitution, parliament, flag, police force, military and it is the only political entity apart from Somaliland that controls its territory minus disputed territories. Mind you it is vast 1/3 of Somalia too.

Puntland made the federal structure that the FGS works on it is the founding member state of Somalia. Puntland is Somalia and without there wouldn't be any Somalia. It showed to the world the shortness of Somaliland's argument that they are the only part that get their act together. Thanks to visionary men and good leader at the time such as President Faroole it was made part of the dual track policy whereby USA recognised that there are regiond in Somalia that have peace and can be dealt with directly to kick start the 'development' of this regions.

From all these policies you talk about what did they get out of it? Some people benefitted, that's it.

It's just a way for some to get rich.

Somaliland and Puntland have some peace. What did they gain from it? It was Mogadishu who gained from it. They will as long as they play the terrorist card.

IC could make deals with Somaliland and Puntland for real development, but have very little to gain from it. Very simple. They must have a reason, like everyone else.

Somaliland has to leave the isolationist state they put themselves under due to the risks and looks my earnest appeal has been heeded because this is where policy is formed at least have presence there to lobby the people.

He has been welcomed by Somalia‘s ambassador to the EU Fiqi.
