Yes foreign intervention would be necessary. Somalia is a weak nation. It's fourth world, there isn't a strong government let alone a capable one. There needs to be drastic measures to drive them out. Did the SNM not receive help from Ethiopia? Are you guys traitors because Mengistu provided you lot with support? The SNM were a rebel group, but they received support to fight off an oppressive regime. Ethiopia backed by the US came to Mogadishu to drive out the ICU who were glorified warlords turned sheikhs.

ICU was supported by Hawiye, Al Shabab is supported greatly by Rahanweyne now and some Hawiye which is why they are free in their territory.
