PL government should speak out about this. The businessmen being illegally arrested should be relocated to Puntland and Somalia should put some sort of restriction on Zambia (if we even have leverage on them). This is a provocation
Deni goverment will give xarmaajo chance he showing off how he care about Somalia. If xarmaajo failed PL will act.

What part of PL citizens are not targeted don't you people understand? The people being deported are the same ones who ran away from South Africa, they probably started shady businesses. People love mentioning MJ and Puntland in everything, we run Zambia. Nothing will happen to rich business owners hailing from Puntland.

Somalis are getting deported and people are using this to take shots at Puntland.

Can’t we all put the qabyalaad mind games aside for a second and agree that this situation is horrible.

We should be using our collective voice on social media to blow the whistle not targeting Akafi and random ajnabis.

You should read the first thread again - specifically the first page. I think you'll find it was the other way around. Certain people here were using the news as an opportunity to take shots at other Somalis. The news article did not provide details about the expulsions, so their speculation was unfounded.

I saw it earlier but didn’t pay much attention. Just re-read it.

That was an embarrassment.

I highly doubt the Somali community in Zambia will be impressed by the qabyalaad that was on display.

I think they have more pressing issues than which qabiil was represented in these deportations.

But what do I know.

why do Somalis follow a certain clan and yet dread them wholeheartedly?

In Zambia there are many foreign ethnics. The question is why only Somali ethnic is targeted? I think we as Somalis somewhere we have done wrong.
It’s because you don’t know you’re history, all these lands were occupied by Cushitic or Nilotic people, then the Bantu expansion from Congo basically wiped us out, now they are feeling threatened if they see Somalis there, the reason these lands will never flourish is because they’re all stolen lands

Don't be ignorant brother. The Somali cushite originated from middle east (Arabia) and Somali Bantus orginated from congo forest. What is happening in Zambia is as the results of the behavior of somali cushites, wherever you go you are not ready to embrace new culture, you end up discriminating your hosts and bring corruptions every places. If you can't control your superiority complex you should stay in Somalia and kill one another like house flies that is what you know

This is not surprising , when I was traveling on a similar route , a younger me,
We took these perilous risks into consideration , the likelihood of dying in the middle of nowhere, the inevitably of being caught by the border guards and the possibilities of deportation meaning you spend an amount of years in jail, unfortunately Zambia is along the main routes to SA. Luckily I crossed into another country and never faced the problems from what others had told me.
Once you get past Tanzania and into Zambia the odds are once again stacked against you and yes it is a hell on earth when you are undocumented , illegal and considered an alien.
Yet our people are risking 1000km journeys faraway from their homeland. Many have nothing to lose , either they are displaced , exiled or are breadwinners for their families.

If my estimations are correct , Lusaka is targeting the undocumented Somalis that are in layover , this is not something new.
For years the Somalis were targeted for small small.
The only thing that is news to us are now the current repatriations of undocumented Somalis t stuck in limbo, back then the true definition of a Zambian jail meant you are charged with illegal entry, confined into a crammed cell , time limitless , never ending to the point your life is
undefined , infinite of uncertainties.

What does this mean , for the undocumented who remain outside of these perimeters,
they live in constant fear , they cannot walk a mile , people the least you expect from can exploit their misfortunes, you may well heard of Magafe thriving in the Northern Hemisphere taking advantage of vulnerable travellers.
And there's these same sly manipulative individuals working hand in hand with crooked cops , they know the system and exploit the Somalis.
Throughout the continent there are no freedom of movement for refugees this applies especially to Somalis, you are targeted by the police .

What about the well established community of Zambian Somalis, Rasta are you not exaggerating to an extent a handful of these contributing businessmen left Somalia since the mid the 60's and they have integrated well to the system, made a name for themselves , improved the local sector of commerce and are a living proof of what is to be an inspiration , a remarkable and something Somalis in Africa should have in admiration,
Rasta , instead of rambling with your paragraphs can you give us an insight why the affluent and influencing communities of entrepreneurs cannot bail the plights their fellow countrymen are facing?

Since the country is very corrupt you can bribe your way out from trouble.

That is a good question , why haven't we asked this?
Well you see, in Somali we have a saying
" Nin tolkiisa kama foogaado" " A man and his clan are inseparable"
This is a complex question to answer tbh and I will try my best to provide a substantial answer to your question, some of you may interpret it differently and I'm not here
to stir up a controversy but this is a well known phenomenon across the Somali Peninsula and sadly a cancer that is currently metastatizing as we exchange these commentaries, to get into full depth let's look at these patterns from an angle.
Whether a Somali hypothetically residing in Antarctica or remote and faraway from mankind for example an Island in Palau.

Somalis would be eager enough to help , donate and lend a hand , raise qaaraan, inquire contact with the relatives of the assisted ,
aiding their kin than someone coming from a different region and after the failing these tolnimo checkpoints placed against then , then yes out of charity like Islamnimo you may get lucky.

Imagine the animosity between hebel and hebel which is surreal.

The Somali identity doesn't transcend over these barriers of lineages , you can't , in the old days our elderly relatives would boast about the strong kinship of brotherhood and acceptance ,

that merging unity of walaaltinimo that brought us together had long died as much as we like to revive and relive it in our memories , we must recognise that we are in our thirtieth anniversary , like I said in today's time we are dictated by nin iyo tolkiisa. And if you are unaware of that then I suggest you should do you our research.

In Zambia you could survive ,live ,carry on with your day to day tasks and do well , as you've noticed these communities have exceeded beyond anyone's expectations and

I mean it ,
if you have enough Kwacha or have someone who is well integrated and from the same bloodline to back you out
, your problems are easily solved. If you have legal troubles obtaining documents or want the ministry of immigration to grant you a residency it wouldn't be as puzzling to solving Rubiks Cube , it only applies if you either have these two options.

Here things differ a little , on arrival you're detained , the next couple of days you are registered as an asylum seeker and you are escorted out from the detention center , you are given freedom of movement and
I believe this where it draws attraction for many immigrants, unlike the rest of Africa

to walk a mile are beyond anyone's
imagination , when you are a Somali with no papers.
Qabyaalad exists here too and I'm not denying that , each respective clan member ascertain close ties with their own. However it is quite the contrary between the two countries.

If you are in distress , you have an issue or a problem , the likeability of running to a fellow Somali is 100% he may be

coming from the exact opposite qabiil or even worse your tol and theirs drew a line of rivalries that demarcates , the bitterness and trails of blood in the motherland , the least person you'd seek help from and yet he is the only Somali in this exterior world there is no one else that speaks the same tongue as you , both are forced to address one and other as Somalis something impossible in Somalia , the world is far too big for your tiny and trivial tuulo disputes therefore you put your differences aside and face a common denominator and you need to be multiplied in order to defeat them
like maths you need to solve these equations with Tan or Algebra

but can you do that without a formula.

Hence this Somali opens his door , sits you down for a shaax while he grabs a pen and paper and interrogates your abtiris as you nervously answer back , picturing him as a driving school instructor conducting an examination,
then phones a stranger and hands it over to you , that stranger lives faraway and it is one of your estranged relatives. That is how Somalis help each other maybe we are a smaller population forcing us to step out of these hostile boundaries.
I believe this is tsupposedly the very few things that bring Somalis closer but other than that we are divided.
Life then gets hard. Because you are yourself , you are you.

I pray for my dear brothers and dear sisters a life of easiness and happiness , they made a sacrifice to travel this far , I hope they find peace and tranquility in their homelands , I understand and acknowledge it's never easy to return to the land that once displaced them , that land that put their lives at jeopardy and the circumstances that forced innocent civilians to getaway from the gunfires and warfares.

At the same it is a relief for the many to be able to stretch their legs and walk an extra mile
without that lingering presence , the constant fear , the feeling of imprisonment even when you're free ,but life can be unbearably unpleasant.

Because you are afraid of being caught.
And they have every right to be scared Zambian jail is a fucking shithole.

Zambian jail is serious.
Zambian jail must be heaven compared to South African ones from the documentaries I have seen. I can't imagine Zambia being worse than a place that has numbers gangs and rob butts.
