Somalis were never united even within families... forget clans.
Ethiopia had a millennium of feudalism and kings.
Somalis aren't used to a hierarchical power structure where someone is above them and hence why our Presidents & PM's we're always infighting from the independence.
Even in Kacaan there was a delicate balancing act of thousands of different factions.
This was probably one of the reasons why we started the Ogaden war ... Siad Barre & co wanted some peace from trying to appease everyone and preventing it all from getting out of control.
The war actually did the opposite and demonstrated how weak the government was.... & so the wolves were let loose.
Sure Ethiopia did fund most of the rebel groups at the time but unless there was a strong state in place it would've been inevitable anyways.
So if you want to fix Somalia you've got to take into account that you're working with a country with over 15 million presidents.
