Why give any clan a position when all clans can compete in a free 1 man 1 vote elections?

Unless you are saying that Dhulbahante and Wersengeli are the Somaliland equivalent of African Americans and need affirmative action, they should be happy with the opportunity to vote, something the vast majority of the Horn cant get.

The reality is that Dir have the numbers to win the VP spot. As a voting block, Dir are larger than Somaliland Harti, you only need to look at the population of Awdal vs the Harti portions of Sool and Sanaag, Awdal has more population.

They need to participate more in SL's democracy and with the right political plays they could be kingmakers.SL will always have the two lions HA & HY duking it out for supremacy, but too win they need to make broad clan alliances which is what HA excel at far more then the subclannist xenophobic HYs
