Somalia will be a multi-ethnic society

Somalia needs to study Canada's multiculturalism act. The act was passed to integrate the various white ethnics (Quebecois, Ukrainian, English etc) in the 70s/80s into one whole country. How did they integrate different types of white people who speak different languages, have different faiths and different politics into one cohesive country.

Somalia has similar but worse problems. We have Somali minorities who don't have rights, we have various Somali ethnics/clans fighting and no unity. Chauvinism and racism isn't gonna create a united country. Only respect and accommodation work.

No one can ever claim to be an ethnic Somali unless their father was, but nationality is another thing altogether.

wasn’t somali just the name for pastoralists first? Then it became the ethnonym for all other occupational groups too I believe ... I don’t see why the definition of somali shouldn’t be expanded to include ppl who are maternally somali

By the time Somalia recovers we would have a strong centralised state and the patrilineal clan nonsense would be irrelevant. So… see yall in Somalia in about three decades cousins

For 800 years they've never been Somalis, always labeled as a distinct community. What ethnic tensions are there? Somalis own the land the state and the army they couldn't do nothing even if they tried. langaabs

Somalis were all originally pasoralists from the north and expanded by genociding the natives of the peninsula thousands of years ago. You can take the dna of a somali from Wajir and he'll be related to a Somali from Awdal. You can't simply change facts.

But everyone has a dream, some people dream of becoming a billionaire while others dream of the sweet smell of fufu being sold in the streets of Ugandishu
