Former speaker of the Upper House and his son accused of of looting parliamentary seats
MOGADISHU (SD) – Some elders from the northern regions of Somalia, who spoke to the media in Mogadishu, accused former Speaker of the Upper House Abdi Hashi and his son of looting their seats in parliament.
One of the traditional elders of the community said that they went to Abdi Hashi four days ago, but he did not give them a convincing answer, after they asked him to refrain from interfering in their seats.
The elders who spoke about the looting, asked Prime Minister Roble that the justice he had promised was needed today.
The traditional leaders also told the union of candidates and the entire Somali community that the election looting was still going on, demanding the suspension of these members who they said were looting their parliamentary seats.
Somalia’s elections have been marred by allegations of administrative and clan-based looting.
