Somalia's independence week, official thread.

I don't get why y'all are entertaining @The Crowe @Gantaal97 and @fais . Just ignore them.

Back to the topic. Does anyone know why the blue color keeps changing in the flag. If I'm not wrong, the blue in 1960 is different than the current one.

That's why the blue in Djibouti is different then the Somali one.

The SL army wouldn't be based at Tukaraq, 50km from the Somaliland-Somalia border, if it was just one guy.

26th June is when Somaliland became independent. It has nothing to do with Somalia. Somalia was still occupied on that day. See below article from Reuters dated 24th June. Look closely at the map in particular. Your revisionist history doesn't change the reality of what that day means.

Somaliland got independence while already knowing they would join somalia. Are u trying to rewrite history?
26th june was always celebrate in Somalia because of this reason

One guy won't change the general pro Somaliweyn sentiment in eastern Somaliland

On the 26th June the pan somali blue flag with the star was raised in Hargeysa, it has a lot to do with somalia saaxib.
Sxb somalia is the south after the union it was called Somali Republic and the indpendence is for Somaliland which left the union in 1991

Somalia politicians didn't want the union to happen it was pushed by Somaliland delegation in Mogadishu with the pressure from their people who wanted the union to happen as quickly as possible

Interesting.
Any source to back your claim? I was under the impression that somalis from both somalia and somaliland wanted unity while politicians were divided in to two camps:
-pro Somaliweyn from both somaliland and somalia, mainly SYL members
- skeptics moderates mainly from Somaliland. They believed that unity should happen gradually and not right away and they advocated for somalilands autonomy. Famous Christian somalilander Micheal Maryama was one of them

26th of June has only one meaning - Somaliland attained it's independence. It was not obligated to join with Somalia. It chose to.
That was a horrendous mistake that its people would live to regret, and have vowed to never repeat.

SYL wasn't committed to the union as the Northern delegation in Mogadishu was

Adeer it's all kaftan, don't take it too seriously. It's an internet forum board after all.

I know it's kaftan balse anigu odey baan ahay. Teeda kale, I lived in Gaalkacyo. A place where everyone is Qabiilist but invites you to his house for lunch the next day.

Living in the West freed me from being Qabiilist. I don't know about you young folks.
