While many of you know that Trump's first term had a bad relationship with the Muslim world, this time I believe his approach will be different. I don't expect the Muslim Ban to return, but I do think he'll prioritize withdrawing all American military from conflict zones, including Somalia, which presents its own set of issues I don't think it will change anything on the ground they withdrew previously if they withdraw now the situation will still be the same.
As for immigration, Trump will likely focus on deporting illegal immigrants. However, most Somali Americans arrived in the 90s and are already naturalized citizens, so it's not a major concern for our community.
Lastly, Trump is a staunch supporter of the oil and gas industry and is against liberal green energy policies. This will likely benefit oil-producing countries, including Somalia, which is set to join that group by 2025.
