They might support you as a federal entity within Somalia. 90% of the people from Sool/Sanaag/Awdal are pro unity. The Harti Tribes from the north accepted and welcomed SL for two reasons:

1. The deep envy and hatred for their larger and more influential brother Majeerteen.
2. The lack of unity within their sub clans which ignited plenty of repetitive clan wars. They couldn't assemble their own regional goverment so they had to invite others to do the job for them.

Once Somalia gets its shit together or even the current FGS set their sight on solving the SSC issue then you will see if they're genuine supporters of your cuqdad ridden enclave or not.

You need to understand my point. Those clans support Somaliland's presence in the region for security reasons. They'd rip each other's throats without someone guarding their rifles. They're fully against the secessionist extremist ideology of SL and would never vote Somalia to be broken into pieces. Nobody cares when the southern regions will get their shit together or not. I personally don't care. The FGS made Galmudug, Hirshabeelle, Jubaland and SWS states recently. Most of those regions were under the administration of Shabab when the FGS declared their statehoods. The FGS doesn't need to be strong Militarily or economically to solve the SSC issue on paper.

Ali Khalif pleaded with Mogadishu to recognize his region's statehood but to no avail that's when he decided to flip the tables and consider other alternatives. If FGS recognizes SSC, Ali Khalif and all the inhabitants of that region would immediately support it.
