I respect Somaliland for choosing Diplomacy over Violence. And by doing so they got a prospering peaceful state


Somalis have never, ever gotten anywhere thanks to violence. Violence has only worsened situations. Violence is what led to Barre's fall. Violence is why qabiil is so popular. There will never bloom any flowers if the sun is blocked by ashes.


Only time a Somali was successful was when Barre took over in the bloodless Coup of 1969.


When Somalis can learn to work together, despite our (zero) differences, Somalia will prosper. Somaliland went the route of democracy, with little violence and a positive attitude. Somalia should follow their example


Peace is our only solution. How a nation of one people, one language, one religion and one culture can't work together when nations of many people, many religions, many languages and many cultures can is utterly retarded.


And it doesn't matter that Somaliland is mostly just Isaaq, they're still United while Barre was pitting Daroods against eachother and in Mogadishu Hawiyes were clashing with eachother

Many foreign people visiting the country. Saw plenty of whites and Asians there. One guard with an AK47 who needed a ride even went into my father's rented car which was already quite packed. Anywhere else a police officer wouldn't dare to do that since he would think we would attack him and steal his weapon, but in Somaliland the people trust each other

Berbera beach. The guard kept an eye on some white tourists, and after his shift was done he asked us for a ride to the city. Berbera is def one of my favorite cities, the food was so amazing
