Lascaanood had a good population base so opening shops, restaurants, hotels is good business. And it's not a dirty place. Plus you don't see starving people on the streets and prostitutus and such. The 1991 "Unuka Leh" attacks with Hawiye murdering, raping and robbing people merely for being Daarood happened in South Somalia. Not North Somalia.
I always laugh when I see Hawiyes pretend that they are the most welcoming and kind Somalis, as if we are all supposed to forget about why we are all in the diaspora to begin with. We don't suffer from collective amnesia.
I recommend this book for anyone who is unaware of just how friendly and peaceful people are in South and Central Somalia.
To be fair the civil war wasn't as simple as Darood vs Hawiye & Isaaq. Darood were fighting in the South (Harti vs OG vs MX) and Hawiye were duking it out in Mogadishu, at one point Abgaal was ganged up on by Hawiye, Dir, and Madowweyne, from the start Ogaden aligned themselves with the USC, not to mention the clan skirmishes in Somaliland.
The civil war was a constantly shifting alliance of clan militias, the very same guy you'd be fighting against you'd be helping him out by the end of the month, it was very complicated.

Time for somalia to do the same shit that somaliland does to our citizens, they deport our people while we allow landers to sit in our parliament. I don't care if acting against this will solidify Somaliland's claim to independence, we already know unity with them is impossible as their leadership has a deep hatred for us. Somalia should close borders with SL, heavily tax their goods, ask for visas for their citizens and residency permits. No somaliland citizen should be allowed to be elected into public office in Somalia. Flights coming from Hargeysa should be checked carefully maybe we should stop flights all together for some time

Somalia should also stop issuing passports for reer Somaliland. No more passport for them. If they want to travel let them use the Somaliland passport, if the SL passport isn't recognized were they are going then it's not our problem.
Somalia's embassies abroad should stop any diplomatic assistance to somaliland citizens, they have their own unrecognized embassies so they should use those. Somalilander refugees in the west who claim to be from Somalia should be treated as somalilanders and not Somalia's citizens, Somalia's government should notify foreign governments that lander nationals are pretending to be from Somalia.
