OPINION Somaliland shouldn't arrest unionist because it hurts the separatist cause

It's their politicians who arrest them and also isaaq who shows unionism is arrested too as no one wants civil disobedience or clan conflicts in Somaliland

But that's just stupid. It only gives Somaliland a bad reputation.

Why did Siad Barre jail so many opposers ? He was afraid of rebellion and rightly so.
Is Somaliland afraid of a pro somalia rebellion? If not why arrest or harass someone over a somalia flag or an opinion?

Because for 30 years they been in this echo chamber parroting the same talking points narrative. Probably a minority within Isaaq would support unity but it will cause initial shock and bring it to mainstream which the government refuse to entertain.


One of the reasons why some of them are relentless in their beliefs is daily local media hung on independence, if they allow the same space for apposing narrative best believe a minority with Isaaq and majority ofnon Isaaqs are going to get behind it.

Somalians are more focused on Somalilands recognition than Somalilanders. Even on this forum, almost every thread or comment about recognition is from a Somalian. It's pathetic but it's almost always a Jabarti so I understand mate

I don't know. It's worth trying though. I'm pretty sure many DH would vote for unionism if they had the chance to choose

Recognition is not our biggest priority as the Somalians think. Control is what we aim. We should be in control of everything. But I think it's better if we use Local gangs instead of the law enforcement. Harassment, vandalism and intimidation works better than locking some one in. Somaliland government should use the power of it's youth.
