Somalis in yemen

Who lives there? I keep hearing about a ”huge” somali population in Yemen by yemenis doing fkd, but I’ve never met or seen anyone that has lived there or rarely hear about the refugee population there.. Which clans etc., is it minorities or?

Since the civil war the Yemeni government use to take in all types of African, refugees as Somali ethnic to secure funding from UNHCR and other international aid organizations. And from what I've heard they never allowed the Somali people to open businesses over there and in Somalia we allow them to run wild and do whatever they want. Makes so angry walahi!

I figured.. they don’t look somali in some of the photos I’ve seen. The numbers are very off too.. one guy says there’s 4k of them in Aden. Another agency says 700k in the whole country but mostly in Aden. Another says 250k, but only 50k are refugees.

There used to be a historical community in Aden of Somalis mainly from waqooyi

I only met one family that has spent time their I don’t think there that many it’s not a prime destination for Somalis outside the west to settle or invest etc like Kenya Uganda or South Africa etc

I've heard that majority of ethnic Somalis went back to Somalia and other countries. There's no nolol there

Traditionally Isaaqs and some other clans like the Dir & minor amount of Hartis lived. Then a tsunami of Southern refugees went there in the 90s & early 2000s. Southerners ruined the Somali name in Yemen just like they did in the Khaleej.

Not many , the community is small and they know each other. I got no love for the Yemenis cuz I know them well.

This is what I've been saying. Why are we acting so benevolent. I understand this way of thinking with Syrians as I hear (Though I may be wrong) Syria treated us extremely well on paper but Yemen treated us awfully yet we give them everything in the name of "ummah" and "muslim brotherhood "

A few of my extend family left in the 70s or before that. I can’t remember the date, but there was some kind of war and they returned to Northern Somalia from Aden. I believe a large group of Somalis came back to Somalia during that period. Others left for the West.

If you're descended from reer Aden you'd know they used to call them yaa somaal as a slur before the arrival of Southern refugees but you are a poser.


The Southern Arabs would come to the city and complain about our and the Indians but Somalis got it worst. We built Aden and not langaab Southern Arab tribes
