"Somalis lost their culture" "Somalis were Arabised"

it could just be that in the places where somalis settled in the US & Scandinavia there was no established muslim community that had already set up those institutions, whereas in the UK u had pakistanis and others who came decades before. Somalis didn’t feel a need to create their own anything

Does anyone know who started this balaayo? :damn::damn: The fact that people are starting to believe that Somalis abandoned their original culture to 'become Arabs' has to be a psyop.

You see Dhaanto festivals in the diaspora. Somali traditional music is still being created, and I have yet to see a Somali creating a song in Arabic Scale or with heavy Middle Eastern influence.

Here's a modern rendition of a beautiful old Somali song with traditional instruments:

Somali is the majority language with Somali equivalents for every Arabic, Italian, and English loan word.

Somalis dress in Dirac, baati, macawiis, hoos guunti, guuntino etc++ whenever I'm at home I'm in my baati the whole time. Even old attire is being brought back e.g. Jubbad (mind you, this has been continuously worn, just not on a large scale e.g. by Somali Sufis and Sultans).

Somalis eat Somali cuisine and take part in nomadic traditions. This video is only 7 years old:

There's so much more, but I wish this site would show more appreciation and spread more positivity about our dhaqan
These days arabisation simply means being Muslim, it’s meant to get a reaction.

If you want real arabisation go to Egypt or Libya or Algeria or Lebanon or Syria.

When I say that, I mean in the west. Diaspora somalis especially in the UK highkey act like sheep for arabs and south asians. I don't blame them we are a minority with in a minority but it's sad how somalis here have no sharaf and allow these people to boss us around.

When some other people say this, they mean that Somalis back home no longer wear any of the cultural clothing you stated and just wear abaayas and thobes/khaamis now.
I've seen a bunch of Somalis out during Eid rocking the Somali Jouke, in the end of the day, it's the youth that drive culture, and it's in our best interest our culture survives.
