I’ve seen Somali people doing this with picking more somali names or vague names that sound western. People avoiding certain Arabic names to give kids easier times. Anti Muslim sentiment going crazy now a days. Names like Adam, Sarah. Then the somali names they have no idea where it’s from a lot of madows in America use strange names so keeps them confused and they won’t know your origin

lol U bring up a good point. Somalis 99% I've met the dads last name and the kids last name different because they dont use sur name like its used in most of world. Even arabs have last names that stays same based on family tribal names. Its gets to be confusing and even when u picking up kids sometimes they will raise eyebrow. Ive met only 1 -2 families that have actual last name same for kids and dad
