Somalis living in the west already have surnames. My kids will forever have my grandfather's name as their last name.

People sometimes change their surname. In the past this wasn't allowed. So, surnames are becoming unreliable in the West.

Especially in the US many people have fake Anglo surnames while they are German, Italian etc paternally.

That idea could actually go a long way in reducing tribalism and nepotism.

It's a terrible idea. Somali strangers will use it for ulterior motives. I wouldn't mind having a minority clan as my last name though. Abdi Mushunguli or Abdi Gabiley would be OK though. I would use it to bring out the victim card when I need to.

I only like clan names on whites and Asians and other Africans. I am more interested in knowing about the O'Shaughnessys and the Yamamotos.

Real clans with real history and they don't use it for evil.

When people immigrate they usually change their surnames since there were no way for the authorities to know. But then the children tend to keep that name as the family name.

You can already see it with the children of 2nd generation Somalis. The kids will take the name of their great grandfather as their last name.

Jews in America seem to have weird German surnames not really used by ethnic Germans.

And it often has something to do with Gold and Silver. LOL. They are almost begging for the antiSemitism.

There should be a surname law that forces everyone in Somalia to adopt surnames. People with hereditary fixed family surnames will be a whole lot easier to identify than names like "Maxamad Abdi Maxamad".

The Somalis with Arabic surnames who plan to stay in the West really should consider changing their surname. It's not Somali to begin with and they will improve the chances of their children (Islamophobia). The Whites know and are biased against the Arabic names, but have less of a bias towards uncommon Somali names.

We should do our surname the Italian way, (given name) (family name) (city/town of origin) it will keep some of the aspects that our names have for searching relatives this way

Jews didn't have last names before the world wars. They were forced to have last names by the government.

They had bin in their names, X son of Y.

I am tired of people saying that my surname is also a regular name, as I don't know that my surname was the first name of someone else
