They were the only one I was comfortable enough to show all my poetry to (something I do for fun). And listened with bated breath (every time). I felt completely accepted for my unconventional ideas and very much celebrated. During times of difficulty they were there and proved reliable. They knew the full nature of my health condition. And they didn't care. Even if it were potentially appearance altering. They co-signed on me healing myself with drastic lifestyle changes (which proved cumbersome). You cannot buy that level of dedication. I've come close even got courted by a near replica but nothing else compared.

Acceptance is key, mon ami. :manny: I know we want this from people and we can get it. But
you don't need all of these from everyone. Some people aren't the best of listeners, won't make you feel appreciated/welcome and might be highly disagreeable. The baseline is civility and common human decency/ respect. I think most people are generally caadi with only those in the margins being difficult. It's best to set different expectations for people based on their capacities.
