My older brothers got big ones. I have some on my belly but they’re light scorches.

I have a faint memory of it back in laascanood. I think I had calool xanuun or something. But it was night time and we were outside, and they took a musbaar and heated it up. Then the burned some of my belly.

I don’t remember the pain though. I wonder if they still believe in this

my mom said I was still crawling when I reached the walking stage and that my legs were swollen, she said some older lady came through with a razor and started cutting the back and front of my thighs, shin and I think my stomach too. She said I started walking within a day :)

those scars didn't completely disappear until I was in my mid teenage years tho.

Explain the forehead burns. What does it mean and what's it for?
I have the forehead burn which btw i'll be getting rid of through laser surgery(it heats up the skin and heals shut on its own).

Anyway the reason for the forehead burn is so that they can bring down the forehead swelling for new borns. It naturally goes down for all babies reer baadiya people burn babies.

I have a huge mark shaped as tree on my stomach , although it is fading now but I asked my mom why I have it and she told I had Cagaarshow(Yellow skin/Jaundice) as a kid and those burns saved me.

I remember taking a physical test and the doctor asked me what these marks were about and whether I was abused, I told him it cultural thing and I was lucky I was from Somalia unlike South Sudanese ppl who burn their kids in the forhead and face.:mjdontkno:

Humans in general are very resourceful, they will always find a way. I am just glad I didn't have those visible head scars. :)
Same, my scar was only scorch marks. Slowly the black marks on my belly are fading as the skin is being replaced.

As of now you have to squint to even notice them. Medicine a long time ago was just trial and error, if they found a new disease or problem. They’ll try as many different treatments until it works.

We’re lucky to be born in later generations where we have a huge database of knowledge gathered from older generations, hopefully we can also learn new things to teach new generations. Generational knowledge is something allah has blessed us with and hopefully we can put it to good use :nvjpqts:
