I am a Macrobian and a Somali. We're tall, elongated people. Who is the other African group who can fit that description? We also live in Alula. Who are the other African group who lived in Alula?

We were people who were known to be seafarers. Who are the other African group who did like us in the Horn? Our ancestors have truly been people who made their presence known in history.

You guys are all incredibly beautiful people for separating the antics of that individual (a troll) from the wider South Sudani community

I appreciate you guys and I'm truly grateful

No problem. Honestly though, what do you think about the conflict in Sudan? I heard some are crossing borders.

No problem. Honestly though, what do you think about the conflict in Sudan?

The war is the by-product of short-sighted men that incorrectly thought that a paramilitary force (with a parallel and independent command structure) could be reined in.

The people in the center used that force to engage in ethnic cleansing of non-Arab tribes in Darfur and Kordofan, and I hope that they now see the errors of creating such a force in the first place.

So who's to blame?

The RSF is entirely to blame for this particular conflict; they were supposed to be incorporated into the National army within 2 years but they insisted on 10 years

I didn't know that, AUN. It's sad to see that North Sudanese will ethnically cleanse the Sudanese who they don't determine as good enough. Do they do it to the Beja and other groups as well? A lot of Beja are dark as well with kinky hair. I can't quite understand why they want to assimilate to Arabs so badly considering a lot of them don't look the part.

I heard some are crossing borders, are they coming to South Sudan? I wouldn't want them considering what they were doing to you guys. (Apologies if that sounds cruel.)

It's not that they didn't see the other Sudanese groups as good enough, per se; it's because the Government is dominated by an Arab elite that is obviously biased toward the Arab tribes; and they intervened on behalf of the Arab tribes even though Arab tribes were encroaching on the lands of non-Arab tribes.

The 'Government' in Juba did the same thing; the Dinka used State power to engage in land theft of Shilluk land in Upper Nile State and armed Dinka militias to carry out a similar program of ethnic cleansing.

The Dinka dominated Government ethnically cleansed the Nuer in Juba in 2013; it had no reason to turn the guns on Nuer civilians after it had defeated the Nuer soldiers in the capital.

There are no Angels in Greater Sudan, however, the North has historically been the villain

I doubt that North Sudanese are going to cross into South Sudan; most Northerners will probably leave the capital and go back to their home towns and villages.

The average Northerner doesn't actually mistreat the average Southerner, even in the North and they definitely wouldn't do that in the South; they don't say anything racist (to our faces) and they certainly don't try to be violent with us...

..Northerners have historically used the State to steal land and displace certain ethnic groups but they act really friendly, gracious and hospitable on an individual level.

Were it not for the lands that the North still occupies, I would be inclined to let bygones be bygones; I would probably see them as distant kin.

Most people are sheep and are just trying to go about their lives, so they're unlikely to stick their necks out -- especially for people from a region that the Government tells them are being needlessly troublesome.

Most Northerners claim that they didn't know what was going on in the South

I also used to think that Arab Sudanese were delusional, however, I was wrong; they actually do have substantial Arab ancestry, so it makes sense for them to identify with that side as well.

Arab Sudanese are even more Arab than the Egyptians and Maghrebis.

My only issue is why did they feel the need to act as though the whole Country was populated by Afro-Arabs? Sudan didn't need to declare war on Israel and get involved in Arab affairs especially since the whole Country wasn't majority Arab.

The North has historically been in contact with civilizations and was more advanced, so it actually does make sense for them to see themselves in that light...

..I am glad to say that my peope never saw them as superior and rejected any and all attempts to be treated as inferior by them.

The North was already far ahead of the South, even before the British arrived; and this only became even more pronounced when the British invested heavily into large agricultural schemes and dam building projects in the North; the South received no such largesse...

..And I think the fact we weren't completely pacified by the British until the 1930s is one of the reasons for this disparity in investment; the North was completely pacified by 1899.

How do these people not care about each other? It's a dog eat dog world out there.

It's funny because there's some of them who aren't actually all that Arab genetically. There are Afro-Arabs, no doubt, but a lot of them look straight up like Horners and a lot are dark as well with kinky hair, like the Beja. I found this funny.

I'm glad you guys got pride, just like geeljires.

It's because we're distinct in every way, so you can't really expect any sense of fellowship; I don't even want the people of the North to have any regard for us; I just want the return of Kafia Kingi (larger than Lebanon) and a mutually beneficial settlement on Abyei to be reached.

Knowing the North, we'll have to take back what's ours by force in the future

Some of them are probably more Sub-Saharan than they are Arab, however, I don't think they care at all; there was a Sudanese Prime Minister (Sadiq al-Mahdi) that reportedly had a Dinka grandmother and he still authorised raids on Dinka peoples, so I don't really care for any connections with the North.

I want the South to look toward East Africa for fellowship; and to the West for ideas and inspiration. The North can look toward the Arab world.

South Sudanese place a great deal of value on pride, and this is precisely why we have resisted every invader that arrived on our lands

:rejoice:
