Assad would be stupid to stay in Damascus at this stage; he will have to move to the Alawite heartland and fortify his positions there.

The majority of the SAA is Sunni and they'll likely defect or refuse to fight for the Alawite regime and its dictator... so Assad will have to create an all Alawite defence force for Latakia and Tartus.

Alawite youth has been depleted over the decade. Latakia region is full of old & unfit men. Once the regime is removed from Damascus. HTS will probably plan an offensive against the Alawite region without antagonizing them. It will be a hard balance.
