The best Somali Flag no Doubt about it. (opinion)

Before I begin this posting, I want to remind everyone that I seek unity among all the regions. This is strictly a ranking of the flags .

I plan to make a tier list of Somali Region flags, I will need some help from this forum with getting all the flags needed, I'm asking everyone to contribute a regional flag or flag thats related with Somalia of any kind. I will download these images.

My opinion the best regional flag has to be

Its a tricolor, a very unique one and the blue strip with white star in the middle shows its connection to the main Somali Flag.
Another map I like is

This map is really nice, the colors a chosen are not to extreme and the star on the top tricolor is really nice too.

One of the WORST somali region flags has to be one I saw during my time Lurking here. It was someones profile picture I think it was of Gedo (No hate) but I remember that others also hated it too It was real funny now that I remember back It was funnily bad. If anyone has this flag please share it.

I like the symbolism of the Shabelle River but the way this was excecuted is not it.

Also that flag by itself is somewhat inspired by the Ethiopean flag.

The Ogaden Community uses this flag for the Ogaden region of Ethiopia describing it as follows: "The flag of Ogaden consists of green, blue and red horizontal stripes with a pentagonal white star in the centre of the blue stripe. Green represents the fertility and richness of the land. Blue stands for the dignity and integrity of the people. Red symbolizes the continuity of the struggle for self-determination and freedom. The white star represents the commitment and unity of the people."

An article in the New York Times about the conflict in Ethiopia with rebels in the Ogaden region has a photo of a flag with caption: "An O.N.L.F. soldier shows the flag that would represent the Ogaden as a separate country. The Ogaden lies on the border of Somalia and Ethiopia and the flag is a blend of the Somali and Ethiopian flags."

Did you not finish high school? That is not a source in your posting you say that 'Also that flag by itself is somewhat inspired by the Ethiopean flag.'


You want to further back this claim up with a source you provided, Right away I can tell some major issues.

Firstly, this isnt a primary source, nor is it a secondary source. Its a straight up tertiary source. You can tell because this person is citing the New York Times, which in of itself is not a good source to claim that it was inspired by the ethiopian flag.

Second issue with your claim is that it is an opinion, a baseless claim. The source you provide is a just a caption, who knows if the person who wrote that is even educated in the politics of the region leads me to my next point.

WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD THEY COPY THE ETHIOPIAN FLAG? Makes ABSOLUTELY no sense, aren't they seeking determination? their own sovereignty and separation from ethiopia?

If you are going to provide a source like that, I would like to know where it even came from, all there is is an english name Lewis A Nowitz and a date, I think you added that in order to solidify your shoddy claim. As if everything they would say is fact.

I'm just going to end this posting by saying, you must stop spreading this absolute fake information. Not only that but you are a whole another level. By providing opinion pieces as a factual source. Shame on you, spread of misinformation to this level needs to be called out. This is truly a whole another level.

Instead of being triggered, disprove it rather than dismissing it as fake. I mentioned that they drew inspiration from the Ethiopian flag because their tricolor aligns with the ONLF flag. Green symbolizes fertility, red signifies self-defense, and blue, the only unique addition, represents dignity.

Thats BULL where’s the Ethiopian blend?? The green is representing the land red stands for blood with the Somali flag separating the two colours.
