The Kufic shahada vertical stripe is to represent Islam as a “pillar” of Somali society due to the history of Islam in the region as well as the majority Muslim population in the country.
The symbol in the middle is a set of rotating leaves that create a star shape. The star in the middle is the star of unity from the first flag. The leaves creating that shape represents harmony amongst Somalis as well as prosperity.
Symbol = Unity + Harmony + Prosperity
White background represents peace as well as a canvas for Somalis to “ paint there own future “ Blue for the ocean.
@OreoMcflurry these 2 are my favourite and it would be better if they were merged like the star and leaves in the top one is replaced with the sun symbol.
Top one looks way too boring even if the star was replaced with the sun bottom one looks much better with or without the star. I’d prefer white star without the leaves for the bottom one though like u suggested.
