The fast development of Ethiopia

I've been to this country a few times over the years and yes it does seems far ahead of us in terms of development although it isn't necessarily a rich country per capita or still has better quality of living than Somalia which is pretty much destitute. If they keep going at this pace I don't doubt they will become a middle economy country within the next ten or twenty years maybe we should start learning amharic or afaan oromo lol.

And were still dealing with garxiis and civil war and people here believe the ethiopian state will collapse mass delusion when our enemies are getting stronger
Lol yeah Somalis are very gullible these types of rebellions always happen in Ethiopia when one tribe isn't in power they pretend to be rebelling until they get what they want and the cycle continues.

Saw some tiktoks about clubbing in Addis ababa recently and was honestly shocked. That rabbit hole pretty much showed me how nice Addis ababa looked.

War waa been. They took a bunch of loans and they still don’t know how they’re going to pay them off.

most of their efforts to industrialize failed and alot of their chinese investors are dipping, their next card is tourism. They’re building vanity projects all over hoping that’ll attract more visitors. Waa wadan dhintay in reality

and their numbers are cooked.

Read most of it makes sense but I feel like they won't default on these loans abiy will work his way around.
I hope so.

Lol. Ethiopias economy is extermely fake. They're economy somehow grew fast from 2020-2022 when there was a pandemic and a civil war. Then it did from 2018-2020. They somehow grew from 80 billion in 2017 to 160 billion in 2023. The reality is that they've been faking their economic data for the last 20 years. If you look at the 2010 imf predictions for ethiopias economy by 2018 it was estimated they would reach 65 billion if the kepf growing fast. I could keep going all day with more examples but you get my point. even the ethiopian economists say that the data is b.s .

Habashis are insanely adaptable in a negative way.

They are expert PR peddlers in the most negative way possible. @Ya.dhahay put it well
That country is genuinely terrifying .. I realized that nothing was going to change in that country when I started researching about their multiple genocides.. the amhara one in the early 90s and 2000s killed atleast 2 million of them 💀 imagine! The ethiopian masses, their diaspora all of them were quiet.. no scholarly attention too.

sometimes it annoys me that our clan skirmishes get so much media attention despite having a small deathtoll, and most, if not all, who die tend to be armed men and not civilians madama ee tahay niman oo miyiga isku dagaalayo. Not like ethio conflicts which isn’t even armed factions fighting eachother but them attacking eachothers civilian settlements. Niggas go out of their way to terrorize and massacre civilians from the rival ethnic group. The only time our people did that on a massive scale was during the first years of the civilwar, and it died out for the most part after that. This was never common in somali warfare.
anyway there is khair in our Ls being publicized but not theirs, imagine if Somalia had great PR despite the crisis back home and the multitude of issues that plague our country. Imagine if the average somali was to pretend that everything was fine, cuz this is what ethiopians do and it doesn’t serve them. Everyone in that country, rich or poor, the ignorant or intellectual, are too concerned with their image to ever speak about how bad things actually are.

Ethiopians enjoy better PR but their civilians are living in misery, one that is far worse than the one in Somalia.

If they were adaptable hundreds of thousands of them wouldn't flee to Somalia, South Africa and/or cross into Yemen in droves.

Every region except for Ogaden wouldn't be facing mass starvation and famine either.

About 4 million people in drought-affected Afar, Amhara, Tigray, Oromia, South Ethiopia, & South West need urgent food assistance, according to the Government and Food Cluster.

They're in constant war and still have an economy superior to Kenya and just behind Nigeria.

Its fake GDP stats from the government and they often hide development under failed vanity projects that sent it deeper into debt.
Yeah it's fake numbers , back in 2015 they measured their real GDP is somewhere close to or less than 15 Billion and it was frequently accused for falsifying development stats to portray fake growth

It's like @hayran said , they do it to attract foreign direct investments and to create positive image of the country via western lobbying.

See this blog they republished articles from London School of Economics, The Economist and The New York Review of Books, all pointing that the Ethiopian regime is fabricating statistics

Ethiopia’s economic growth borrows from ENRON’s accounting

It all collapses when you deep how many people are dying from famine and they are suffering food shortage, yet their economy is largely just agricultural based.

How are they at the same time producing soo much greater crop yield to export in large sums to attract hard currency? and boost economic and gdp growth. It makes literally no sense at all.

Infact the reality is that they only produce bare minimum subsistence and have to rely on emergency food aid in greater parts

Post 2018 it's been practically downhill since the Tigray war

Propaganda.

The vast majority are extremely poor and constantly fleeing, they live in slum like conditions.

The government there just focuses on aesthetics and vanity projects to project an image of growth but most people are aware of how dire the situation is there for the people.
