You're in favour of this? You don't see this as the world moving towards a one-world total surveillance state? It's no wonder every country right now is introducing and trying to get the widespread acceptance of digital iD and digital wallets through the means of 'convienience'.
This is basically telling people that one day, if you don't have the GOV app/ a smartphone and are you not with their programme, you won't be able to travel. The phone is also a temporary item until chip implants become the latest trend like a wearable smartwatch/ring.
If the government says its to help you or to make your life easier avoid it like the plague!

Facial recognition software are only as good as their training data sets. I expect more errors and mistakes with minority faces. Also East Asians look the same

The EU announced they will be introducing it as well as the digital euro.
The EU is old and moves slowly; they've been saying this since 2021, and now we're at 2025
"If the legislative framework is finalized by the end of 2025, the ECB could decide to move forward with the digital euro project. However, as of now, no official launch date has been set, and the introduction of the digital euro remains a possibility rather than a certainty."
Keep in mind it's been stuck on this phase since 2023 and this will only be within the EU.

Tony Blair is promoting the use of digital ID for the UK. Why am I not surprised? This is coming at the same time the European digital ID is being introduced, and in the USA the real ID is being introduced for Americans for flying.
It is a GLOBAL agenda.
Also, at the same time, several airports and airlines are now testing biometric boarding and paper-free check-in procedures, using face scanning.
Remember those electronic vaccine passports you had to show 5 years ago to be able to enter a bar or a restaurant? You really think they put in billions of dollars (or pounds, or euros), into that infrastructure to not ever use again? Of course, they are going to use it again. It is already in place from the COVID era, waiting behind the curtain to be rolled out. In the UK, for example, they want to use the digital ID in pubs to check for minors.
Nobody wanted to believe the conspiracy theorist back then. "Oh, it's just temporary".
