Ceebtooda ma ehee waa caadadood. One President from this community sold the ocean for a pittance, the other sells the country's entire oil wealth for not even that. As the great Eelaay thinker and philosopher Hoosow put it (see tiktok below), Hawiye have a unique leadership style which he kindly described as laissez faire. I wouldn't be as kind and would call it complete incompetence. As bad and dictatorial as Darod presidents are, we don't see anywhere near the level of incompetence and corruption as we see with Hawiye leaders. From the hapless and helpless Sh Sharif who was clearly out of his depth, to the rotten to the core corrupt HSM who would even sell his own mother if he could, Hawiye leaders have let themselves down and they have let Somalia down.

I hope Somalis think deeply before electing another Hawiye president again. We can't predict the future, but we can certainly use the past as a guide. Hawiye have failed Somalia.

They caused all the problems** i want to genuinely see a minority rule. One with preferably less somali ethnic blood and one without any cuqdad toward any somali as they have been marginalised. Nomads and ruling dont really go well together. However it is true hawiye leadership has been absolutely poor.

another alternative to that is letting a kid rule. Im talking a 30 year old diaspora with a degree in political science and international relations from either Russell Group/Ivy League and with experience in groups such as the UN. I would prefer one that knows rule of law, perhaps somali US judge could be fit to take leadership. Again thats another alternative

The warlord era was chaos, and the dysfunction during that time especially after replacing a functioning government was a big fumble. Laakin this narrative that Hawiye can't form gov or rule properly is a fallacy.

If Abdullahi Yusuf came to Xamar after twenty years and found no form of gov or rule other than warlords then that would be a clear cut story that he brought the Somali nation back to its glory and returned our national gov. However, the stick you're beating to use against Hawiye or reer Mogadishu has a glaring omission. Mogadishu yes and much of the South was in the hand of warlords for 15 years after the fall of the Siyad Barre government. However, what happened in 2006? That Hawiye didn't want to have a gov in 06 and that it was forced on them?

Sheikh Sharif and HSM do not represent hawiye, they represent their own interests. The SNA soldiers dying in this sh*baab war are hawiye, the civilians killed in bombings are hawiye, and the people being taxed at isbaaros are also hawiye. They clearly do not care about their clan at all. If they did, they would work to improve the lives of their people instead of using them as cannon fodder.

Whilst the presidency is reserved for hawiye and darood, other clans do have opportunities to rule. We have all clans represented throughout the various ministries, but what has the Minister of religion, education, or tourism done that shows clear results? These people all hail from different clans and still fail to deliver. It is a systemic issue where the only metric for being hired is your clan. This needs to be rooted out. We need to value competence instead. Simple as.
