But the Sayid was my “Ogadeni clansmen”
Dervish fought british child molestors and missionaries who wanted to literally annex our homeland how that can be related to AS I have no clue but I can see why you would equate them considering Godanes your “Isaqi clansmen”
I know Siad Barre did you wrong but I have nothing to do with that so stop bringing me up its ramadan lets get along
The Dervish fought to spread the teachings of Salihiya as opposed to the majority of Somalis who were Qadiriya (Sufi). They were not fighting for Pan Somali nationalism and the only reason the British got involved in the first place was because of the destruction of certain Darud clans such as the Dolbahanta. The horrific situation of the Dolbahanta was even discussed in the British parliament.
Similarly your Ogadeni clansmen of that time lamented Dervish terrorism and rejoiced when they were defeated. Unlike the Dolbahanta, the Ogadenis sought protection from the Abyssinian crown.
Today, we have an organization that’s also fighting on the basis of spreading a certain religious ideology (Salafism). They use collective punishment, they invoke takfirism and they kill traditional leaders, which is unlawful in Somali customary law, just like the Dervishes.
You either support terrorism or you’re against. There’s no in between. There’s no pick and choose.
Btw, if you didn’t know, 4 of the top 5 wanted Dervish leaders, including the spiritual father Haji Sudi, were Isaak. The top 3 most influential leaders of Al-Shabaab were Isaak (Arale, Afgan, Godane). The latter two controlled southern Somalia for a decade. You don’t see Isaak people supporting these individuals.
Also, Siad Barre is dead and he’ll answer for the innocent people he killed. There’s no point in mentioning a man who’s been dead for 20+ years.
