My theory is that the inhabitants were CG, this period marked the beginning of CG expansion from their origins in maydh. We can share this one together walaalyal @oday1kenobi @jugjugwacwac @dhegdheer @Madaxkuti @EedoMenace and my HY brothers @Prince Abubu @ethan bradberry @Hemaal @Duke of Bohol as well as other Somalis @SultanuuFicaan

If you have any photos, please feel free to share, it's an interesting town

It says Konwayn, but the year 1219, is 1804-05

Thanks for translating horumar & govt

Yeah it has a modern undertone to it so it was probably built in the early 19th century?

The Turks/Egyptian khedive had no jurisdiction on Berbera in 1805 since they arrived decades later right?

Edit: 1901? (If 1319 is correct) it can't be that recent?

Thanks for translating bro.

The khedivate had control from the late 1870s till 1884. It was claimed by the turks, but they didn't have much authority.

Maydh was inhabited by the Harti Darood during the times of Adal, not Isaaq. No doubt, the inhabitants of most of these ruined towns were likely Dir.

This is not political, stop derailing the thread you MSB sympathiser!

You are like white people when they said to the Zimbabweans that great zimbabwe wasn't built by you black people but us white people. Stop with your hatred. You are not wanted here.

@ethan bradberry that building cannot be a shrine since it's rather recent (I'm sticking with 19th century for now) plus there's a nearby old masjid that's literally (literally!) a few steps away built in the traditional Somali style (the parapets on the minaret are a good indicator of this):

So wtf was that other building used for then?

The only person who turned this thread political is you, not me. I merely corrected your mistake that Maydh was inhabited by CG during the time of Adal when it's clearly mentioned in Futah al Habash that it was a Harti deegan. Unless of course you're going to accuse a book written 500 years ago of qabyaalad.

Alternative facts, stop trying to change history, don't make me expose your bogus darood history. You always come with jealousy and hatred, and can never appreciate anything. Typical MSB sympathiser mindset.

"Amongst the Somalis there was a tribe called Habr Magadi to whom the Imam demanded a tax. They refused, ambushed on roads and devastated the land. The Imam advanced until a place called Ra'bud - between the territory of the Muslims and the Infidels - as if he wished to march against Abyssinia, then he whirled toward the land of the Somali raiders (Habr Magadi), they fled. He continued until a day's distance to the sea, plundered their ample territory which he ravaged and then returned."

"The Imam took the matter to heart, he gathered an army and marched against the land of Somalis until he arrived at the Habr Magadi who cut roads and plundered the property of Muslims. He defeated them for a second time and took their wealth, he destroyed their cities which he reduced to ashes, then returned to his country."

This was the Isaaq during the 15th century. It's ironic how people who fought against the Adal Empire and looted Muslims are now claiming it as their history. Outrageous.
