What we must understand is that both Hawiye and Isaaq have a direct interest in a divided Darood. Darood loyalty across the former British border for Isaaq and the creation of a Darood federal state directly to the south for Hawiye, are both things they would like to see go away. They are natural allies, nothing in common but having Darood as an enemy. If I were Hawiye, I would be for Somaliland independence because it reduces the numbers of Darood in Somalia, while having no effect on Hawiye numbers and representation.
The simplest way to cripple both Hawiye and Isaaq is to consolidate even more power in DDSI. Why? That is the source of much of their livelihoods. Darood live along the Webi Shabelle for 400 km from Imey to Qalaafe, I would settle tens of thousands along that stretch and provided them with water pumps and free fuel. This would mean the destruction of the farmland upon which the Hawiye depend further downstream. Lower/Middle Shabelle and some of Hiraan would become useless overnight if we managed to do this right. This would also have the effect of creating a market for the food that is now being produced by us upstream. As for the Isaaq the biggest blow would be the redirection of livestock exports from DDSI to Bosaso rather than Berbera. This would have the effect of starving them of revenue with which to wage war against us, and would strengthen Puntland simultaneously. There are a lot of things to be done, what we need is cooperation between the Darood of Ethiopia with those of Somalia. The key to all of this is the government of DDSI by people who believe in these goals. Abdi Iley seems to be going that way, so who knows.

Excuses after excuses. Truth is no qabiil is as United as darod, in fact both Isaaq and hawiye had civil wars between themselves while darod remained united and allied. So this "we need to wake up and unite" is nothing more then bullshit. In fact, it is isaaq who needs to wake up and start treating you like the enemies you are. You have been treated with kiddie gloves since 1991 but thankfully Isaaq is waking up now. Somali galbeed is not only darod, and as said will be divided between the people that inhabit it. As for bosaso port, it had 25 years of not seeing a single bullet let alone war and yet still far behind. That is a price that darod needs others more then anyone else because you aren't self sufficient like others
Darood cannot be as politically united as Hawiye or Isaaq for the simple reason of geography. Ethiopia took most of our best lands and more than 50% of our population. It also divided Darood in Somalia in two halves. Our two biggest cities, Garissa and Jigjiga, are both outside Somalia. We are divided politically much more than either Hawiye or Isaaq due to how the colonialists and Ethiopia drew the borders. The dependence of Hawiye on water which transits Darood lands and of Isaaq on exporting Darood livestock is very much real. The Hawiye have it worse in that they stand to lose their only permanent source of water, while the Isaaq would only lose about half or 60% of Berbera's revenue. It is true that we are enemies, which is why Darood giving you the revenue to wage war against other Darood is so pernicious.

Simple, no other clan is as United as darod. Siyaad barre killed mj yet they faught for him in 1991. Isaaq had big a civil war, hawiye had civil war too while darod were united, in fact look at it liyuu police who we are led to believe is controlled from Addis Ababa only attacks non darods. All darod were fighting hg few months ago while other hawiye weren't supporting hg much. The simple truth is this is the best it gets for darod, you are United yet still short when it comes to other clans. Isaaq may have Somaliland but they are very disunited in their midst.
The geography excuse doesn't fly either as there is nothing preventing people from moving across borders. In fact liyuu cross the border to help you all the time

I totally disagree. Darood have not even started to transition out of nomadism, while Hawiye and Isaaq have urbanized to a great extent. We have potential that is not present for Isaaq or Hawiye, and that is the development of our lands. The transition of Darood from nomadism to agriculture will change Somalia forever. Meanwhile, your people will be stuck in a desert until yowm al qiyaama.

Somaliland is never going to be independent and never will be. The only reason why it got so far was off the back of instability in Somalia. Now that is over, the stronger Somalia gets the weaker secession gets.
