Why are you acting like Isaaq haven’t been killing and imprisoning their families. This is why I find Qabilism so backwards because even when your side is vile you people will always defend them. At the end of the day you are both Somalis stop acting like Animals and treat eachother better. Fear Allah.

Yeah family will be family. But I was talking more in the sense of the wider society. People who are only half somali will be seen as more foreign than somebody from a different clan
Not in the north, if the child has enough kids they might name his section bah "mother background" within the wider community of you are respected, no one will disrespect you and you will be protected.

Hence why I said vice versa and no.

@Midas hasn’t step foot in the Horn. A random Arap Isaaq would feel closer to an HA Isaaq with an Arab mom over a full Dhulo or full Hawiye. I don’t know where he got this kumbaya everybody loves each other rhetoric from lol. Is there an alternate universe where Somalis of the Horn aren’t tribalists?

It still goes back to tribalism. It’s in-group favoritism vs out group discrimination. In our societies you are always a full member of a clan regardless of your maternal origins.

It’s the reason you got @DR OSMAN constantly defending his paternal clan while hating his Hawiye maternal uncles. Patrilineal descent among Somalis is that strong. That people are willing to kill even their own maternal uncles. There is this one social media Dhulo who bragged about not helping his HJ mother anymore due to their Sool tribal clashes.

I really wouldn't use a mentally ill uncle who writes entire theses to no one to demonstrate the general Somali mentality.

Somalis are generally chill toward ajanabis and mixed people. Even if it's maternal descent, if you speak the language, assimilate into the dhaqan, practice the deen and just move among them they're fairly chill and welcoming. But if your pheno looks off and they're aware you're half ajanabi, it doesn't really matter if it's paternal or maternal. They may still consider you a part of the tribe via paternal descent, but there is always an implicit understanding that your heritage is inherently mixed. You're never going to be seen as the same as a fully Somali individual.
It depends. Some Somalis who are mixed with Yemenis look like lighter Somalis (not even that, many times) and don't stick out. My father's mother was Yemeni and he just grew up being a Somali since his mother lived and grew up in Somaliland.

I have a friend who has a father from Yemen and you could not tell he was half Somali. He grew up like the typical Somali guy and I only found out his father was from the Houthi clan after several years of knowing him.

It depends what you're mixed with and how you grew up. If your phenotype is noticeably distinct, people are going to notice more obviously.

I have half Yemeni-Somali cousins myself and it is weird how they come out. You start to understand how Habeshas and all other Horners mostly still look "Cushite". My cousins are at least 8 kids born to one mom and dad and are a perfect example of what I mean. 2-3 just look like lighter skinned Somalis, another 2-3 actually look straight up just Somali (wild) and then 1-2 look a little odd like they're Cadcad almost. But yeah, the majority of them pretty much just get by as normal Somalis.

Anti-Cushitic & Anti -Somalian ethno fascism is the way to go. I share nothing with an Oromo Ethiopian and nothing with a Somalian from Baydhabo
A Somali from Baydhabo and you share the same language group and the same ethnicity as they are also ethnic somalis.
A Somali from Mogadishu and you share the exact same language besides ethnicity. You can't be an ethno fascist against us if you and the rest of somalis are the same ethnicity. You may dislike it but a lander is closer to reer Mogadishu Hawiye than a Palestinian is to an Egyptian

There's a Yemeni-somali auntie I've known my whole life and she looks exactly like a light skinned Somali , I learned she was pure Yemeni Arab (born in Somalia) as an adult , I honestly always thought she was an ethnic Somali from Xamar or something. I know some mixed Somali Yemeni and you'll never tell they are mixed , some are as dark as the average Somali

Some south yemenis look straight up horner and I'm not talking about the ones who descend from east African slave trade. I saw some videos of Yemeni refugees in Djibouti and was confused, I thought they were somalis but turns out they are Yemeni Arabs
