The book that guy referenced was written around the mid to late 18th century and it honestly matches up well with this source I found off wikipedia

May sound wild but many mentions of Arabian Muslim heretics praying to Al-Zeyla'i (Somali) tombs/shrines in medieval/late medieval times...

Didn't know Arabs did trial of fire, it seems to be deeply woven into Afroasiatic culture.

"Bisha'a" (Arabic: بِشْعَة), which translates to "trial by fire" or "ordeal by fire," is a ritualistic practice used by some Muslim Bedouin tribes in the Judean, Negev, and Sinai deserts, as well as some Bedouin tribes in Saudi Arabia, for the purpose of lie detection.

“The "Jabarti law" in Yemen refers to a traditional system of water rights and conflict resolution, particularly in irrigation disputes, named after Ismail Jabarti, and drafted to resolve conflicts between farmers on water at the end of the 14th century.”.

Wallahi, the sheer number of customs we keep sharing with these people. Fish "taboo", the bondsman/pseudo artisanal taboo, sacred tree reverence, pseudo ancestor worship and now this. At this point when I read about Arabians I feel like a Norwegian reading about Swedes but with the linguistic divergence dialed up to 1,000.

Similar test to Bisha' is still active in Syria but instead of fire there is window "daqa/طاقة" of a saint where you need to go through it, if you pass it, you are right and saying the truth if not, then you're liar.
