To all the Somalis who travel, how are you treated in non-SSA countries? Are you seen as a tourist, a migrant, or a refugee?

Indians well at least in the uk are always super friendly, especially the fobs. I guess it depends on location. I feel far more comfortable in working with them than maadows, cadaans over here in London.

The UK ones hide it better. That or they have lived in Britain for a generation or two and have that "People of colour should stand together" mentality.

The ones that are always nice and behave well are the fobs and I'm always comfortable around them compare to everyone else. I'm also comfortable with African fobs. The ones I'm leat comfortable with are Arabs, maadows born here and cadaans.

In Turkey every time I said I'm Somali the reaction was positive but keep in mind I was in touristy areas and never had much contact with locals who don't work in the tourism industry. Arab syrians were especially friendly when I mentioned my origins. In other western countries I'm probably seen as tourist in touristy areas and as a migrant in non-tourist areas. It depends

Where in the middle east? I feel like they only treat people without decent passports badly for the most part.

The most touristy countries I visited in the ME were Turkey & the UAE. I just remembered we did get scammed in Turkey the first time we went so there's that. If you're a foreigner you'll have to watch out for scams/getting ripped off regardless.

As you do to others, so it shall be done to you.

Never experienced anything negative, it's always those who mistreat others or those with inferiority complexes that get mistreated.

You won't even notice these things unless you have crazed expectations or an inferiority complex to begin with.
