The Somali look should be expanded tbh, weβre not a monolith and thereβs people out that are Somali but donβt βlook itβ
Most ethnic Somalis look very similar, we are one of the few ethnic groups on earth that have a very narrow phenotypical look.
Of course there are some ethnic Somalis that can pass for something else, but they are a small minority that stick out, because it is so unusual to see.

what's the difference? Plus a vast majority of somalis didn't fully cover up. I've seen alot of vintage photos were the women are bare chested.
The difference is clear to the Somali eye.
I never talked about covering up, I am talking about who looks ethnic Somali and who doesn't.

I find it very difficult to believe ethnic Somali women were ever bare-chested in public.
At MOST, it's a photo that is mislabelled, or it's a miskeen woman that was exploited and forced into a naked photo by a perverted Coloniser pig.
I think we have a little more variety than you think but I agree that you can often tell when one is Somali or not
But clear automatic differentiations is a problem for the Somalis that donβt look it, they may feel left out
I'm 99.4% somali and I'm always confused with being Nigerian or Congolese and I'm not the only one.

You know that thereβs some Congolese that look horn African right? Congo has a border with Rwanda and during the war the Tutsi fled there so being confused with a Congolese is not a big deal since some look like us. Keep in mind thereβs Fulani ppl in Nigeria aswell! Am sure they were not saying you look Yoroba or Igboβ¦.
An ethnic Somali is an ethnic Somali and their look is pure Somali, whatever it is.
But if someone has any admixture, we can maybe speculate their widely different look is a throwback gene or something.
I think our culture wasn't anti nudity until recently but I'm not sure. I see lots of kids running around naked in Hargeisa and Burao and it seems normal

Are they Somali or Oromo children? There are non-Somalis running around Somali lands.
Somali, but it's only in low income areas that you see this. I lived near State House which is the biggest slum in Hargeisa.
