The states have there own power trump can’t force his will onto them all he can do is cut federal funding and even then the Supreme Court might rule his actions unconstitutional since the current court under John Roberts has been giving all the power to the states

The New England area was the first place in America to be developed the have a high HDI and the folks over there are mostly liberal in places like Boston and Rhode island expect of Maine which is populated by rural white folks which is why Trump did well there

abortion nowadays for example isn't up for the federal govemrnt to decide and is banned in republican states and places like Texas dont require you to have a license for a gun something unthinkable in the 90s
