Hot take: Nearly all of Africa would probably be better off as protectorates until 1980-1990. Democracy and capitalism failed throughout Africa because Africans weren't capable of state building yet. Their corruption, crime, HDI are all much lower in the 40s and 50s than today despite lack of foreign interference.

The other European colonisers were way worse than italians tbh the other african countries wouldn’t have benefited unlike somalia between 1950-1960 which did.

Here is italy in ethiopia even during fascist rule (which was worse). The UN/Italian protectorate between 1950-1960 was more of a partnership with somalis if anything.

Yeah nah, the Italians completely neglected nearly all of Somalia save for Mogadishu and a few other places. And do I need to remind you of the genocide they did in Libya?

Meanwhile the British and French were single handedly building multiple cities in Africa left for them to use. There was far more investment in their colonies compared to the Italians whom I can't name a single town they founded in Somalia. Even Nairobi was built from the ground up.

And I don't think I need to mention Somaliland which had pretty much zero investment from the British either. The only part of Somaliweyn that was actually built by Europeans was Djibout.
