I do not see an independent SL as a useful means of achieving this. I don't support either side of the 'SL-Somalia' question. All I know is, if we continue on our current path, the Somali people may no longer exist in 100 years in the Horn (or may exist as subject people in their own land).
Our interests lie in walaalnimo, the unification of Shanta Soomaliyeed and an entirely new indigenous form of government. Even IF SL became independent, it will end up like Somalia did under Siad Barre eventually. The reason is the same mentality that killed the Somali Republic is still visible in SL and elsewhere and as soon as more aid money comes in, braindead clan elites may compete for the treasure- chest (i.e control of the government). I'm not particularly opposed to SL. PL and all the other BS 'states' are de facto independent and contributing to the present mess.
