Isn’t this what happened last time when the emirates tried to purchase it? Planes trying to land got shot at, looks like just another repeat. UAE sending its footsoldier deni to claim the independent revenue of puntland.
not sure really havent followed to closely. i have heard Garacad will be freeport though so maybe UAE concerned it will undercut other ports not sure. PL also trying to raise fund for road that will connect port to ethiopia so that can be cause to

Deni and Hassan are the same. Both pawns in the Emirati game. If UAE was a positive influence, they’d have had all these ports work in conjunction with one another.

Sad. This project was supposed to be the pride of Somalis, both local and qurbojoog. A major project improving Somali quality of life, owned and produced by Somalis. It’s sad how corrupt our politicians are. It doesn’t matter how well someone like Deni has led so far, if the leaders of our country prioritise money over the people we will never see true progress.

@Hilmaam A lot of our people think that just because the UAE is willing to pay hundreds of millions to operate Bosaso or Garacad that this means they are interested in having these ports actually function.

The UAE has a GDP of $540 billion. The gov of UAE can afford to buy our ports just to deny them to Turkey or China. They basically crippled Bosaso for 8 years until Deni told them “I can’t let you keep doing this, do some improvments”. The UAE can afford to buy everything we own just to deny it to others.

Puntland has no accountability, and agreements are not put to a vote in parliament. If the UAE get their hands on Garacad, it’s over. They will destroy it. Deni thinks he is smarter than he actually is.

I believe it. Dubai have conflict of interest owning so many ports. Bosaso port and berbera not that far apart so if they think they will make more money limiting 1 port and charging more at another can definitely hurt progress and business at Bosaso /puntland. The UAE I don’t understand there angles and why they buying up so many ports. I get wanting to secure routes and trade in region but most countries buying in Djibouti area and setting up navy not purchasing every single port

What a low IQ move if we allow this. Things worked out great for Bosaso port so lets give these xasid sand negroes another port smh.. I hope the wadaagsin company refuse this and dont sell out. Reer PL need to come out and protest this bullshit

Berbera and Bosaso ports are way better than they used to be, why are people here trying to paint a different picture. Yes, Bosaso took a long time especially after the manager was killed, but nowadays it's handling container ships after its 1st phase expansion.
As for Garacad, I heard it's not DP World but Abu Dhabi ports group and that they'll also build Wadaagsin road, I don't see a problem if the shareholders are giving them shares in the company in exchange for that investment. Building of that road would cost more than the port, and that's why I think most of Wadaagsan executives want that foreign investment.

The title is incorrect they not talking over just 51% share. And port management will still be in local hands. This is great news and a big win for Puntland State and the local investors. Plus they will fund and build the road linking the port to the Ethiopian border.
