What do you think Somalia would like today if the disastrous illegal us backed Ethiopian invasion didn't
happen in 2006. Would the country have seen peace,economic development,investment,unity as UIC destroyed
the warlords and wanted to create a government at the time as similar to how the Taliban is ruling Afghanistan.

Do you think ICU could have defeated Somaliland and Puntland?

If ICU was an organized group with a new political vision or program for the nation they could have taken over the whole country with little resistance as who will oppose an Islamic sharia based governance ?? No one but alas ICU weren't a unified group or a political movement

It would be better obviously. 12 years later and the current Somali government can't even project power beyond Xamar whereas the ICU had control over 60% of the country within half a year. They singlehandedly eliminated piracy, reopened schools, hospitals, airports and other services, crime went way down and they enacted anti-discrimination laws. Any fears that they might turn extremist is unfounded because out of the 13 courts the ICU was made out of, only 2 of them were extremist, the rest were moderate.
