Nomads who spent five to ten years in Somalia uninterrupted forget these kids didn't have the opportunity to experience the Somali life without being exposed daily to another set of cultures and norms. They grow up choosing what to do everyday and making decisions from primary school. Hours of time with other kids who aren't Somali, and hours of time with Somali parents. It is constant battle of cultures. It is not easy growing in an environment where your culture is not reinforced outside your home. These kids in the video seem survivors.

We should be understanding a bit. While we disapprove anything altering permanently the Somali character in a Somali, there are worse things these kids could have done.

Definitely pants hanging low, speaking poor English and Ebonics, calling women es, and all kinds of uncivilized behavior, the violent tendencies, gangs, all these things we should fight against and condemn. But them having fun should not be an issue.

When it comes to Somalis who grew up in the west,. I take the ones with 50% streak of Somali character in them.
