Villa Somalia holds condolence ceremony for Ahmed Silanyo

Hawiye are always running scams so I’m sure SL thought about it but didn’t trust them.

‘Hello Sir, I’m a former Mogadishu warlord who’s fallen on hard times. I have some bags of rice I stole from U.N. humanitarian aid from ‘93 that I’ve hidden in a bunker but I need $1,000 to get it out. If you could kindly wire the funds asap I can give you ictiraaf. Please hurry before Qoslaaye steals the rice!’

I am gonna buy some land in Hargeysa though if the ictiraaf is looming 👀

This is why in 2012 when the provisional constitution was put in place Puntland argued that unless the SL issue is dealt with, the constitution will never be finalized. SL & Xamar have always played the North-South policy which SNM and USC planned pre 1991. The only thing standing in their way for the last 30 years is PL claiming part of the south and north regions.

Why is this surprising? Somalis have always gotten along socially despite political disagreements. Biixi and Fiiqi can meet in private right now and I’m sure it would be all smiles and laughter.

Waste of resources. Nobody cares for Silanyo except for Habar Xabusheed
He was good for Habar Awal. He built up the whole apparatus around them and concentrated trade in their regions. They consolidated Hargeisa while he shut down other airports and border crossings. Why are you ungrateful?

War is coming.

Ungrateful? He was an asaasaq thief who stole millions of dollars for his family and other HJ like Maxaamud Xaashi. He didn’t concentrate anything. The only profitable & economically viable part of SL has always been the Berbera-Hargeisa-Wajaale corridor.

@DR OSMAN I thought that the irisism had disappeared from the Somali political scene, but perhaps you was right about the real existence of the irisism :ftw9nwa: .

A condolence ceremony was held in the Somali capital for the death of SNM separatist leader Ahmed Silanyo, who spent most of his time fighting against the Somali state and worked with Ethiopia to dismantle the territorial integrity of the Somali Republic.

Imagine a country mourning the death of the secessionist leader , in the presence of HSM the Somali president, The speaker of Somalia's Senate Abdi Hashi , former Somali prime minister Mohamed Hussein Roble, Somali deputy prime minister Salah Jama, federal government ministers, and members of the Somali federal parliament.

This is an act of emboldening the secessionists.

Does the separatist and collaborator with Ethiopia deserve to be honoured by the Somali state?

It never died bro its just operating in the shadows and especially in the minds, hearts, and souls of isaaq and hawiye leaders.

Terrorism, secession, undermining Federalism at every corner such as corruption and incompetence is to buy time so they can argue this idea don't work and is unfit for Somali people and let's go back to 2 cities ruling 90 cities.

What may have died is centralism and even then that's debatable between Somalis, Sal balaar aideed and ali mahdi type of govts due to the massive failure of the Cairo conference in 1997.

But that doesn't mean irirism died as that's seen as a second option for hawiye, a 2 city model federation with 90 cities controlled and nominated from Mogadishu and Hargeisa called a fancy name like North and south confederation.
