F*ck France for ever trying to colonize Somali lands even if they did some minute good in some cases by some chance. But that aside, it's a beautiful sounding language and I admire French cuisine. They are by far Rome's most successful colony to date in my opinion.

On a serious note, Colonization is an alienation to the locals and a huge deal of loss for the Colonizers. I note usually the cultural impacts of this process of occupation, but in a psychological standpoint, it alienates the locals; as their norms are now outdated, they are '"indigenous", dominated, subjugated. Many will collaborate but half-heartedly, while a few will engage in active resistance and a small portion will completely assimilate, despite discriminations and rejections.

But Colonization was bound to happen as the great Industrialists of the West wanted to expand and own more lands, while the population was bigger and more asking and the Politicians ressorted to Republican Universalism of "educating the savages to the true values of Humanism, as Jules Ferry's main rhetory was).

I can agree with the idea that this occupation may create mental and physical pains, as it de-naturates with the psyché of the "Indigène". China's main focus was to avenge its humiliation during the Opium Wars (around 20 millions of people lost their lives during the Chinese civil wars).
Africans should be harvesting this energy to regain their perceptived dignity.

Is this what you call Bastille Day or is that something different.

It's "le 14 Juillet", a day where we celebrate "la Prise de la Bastille", the Bastille takeover that launched the French Revolution of 1789.

You know nothing of France's colonization.
First, who built Algeria, Djibouti, etc?
Before the French left,
Djibouti had the longest and well-equiped railroads of the Horn, with a modern town; Djibouti city, with its unique architecture:

It wasn't perfect but without them, we'd be speaking Amharic right now.
You can even look at French Algeria and how much the French have invested for their colony.

At the peak of French occupation of Algeria, more than 2 millions of "Pied-Noirs" (French of origins in Algeria, colons and some were adopted locals to French Colon's Culture),

You love them baguette peeps :wtf:

My fam liked French baguettes growing up. You'd always find baguettes in our kitchen. Good stuff. If I didn't have an issue with gluten, phytates and the like and find bread overall rather fattening I'd still enjoy it.

Jabuuti folks are funny. They sometimes act snobby toward you if you can't speak French and come at them with Somali. But what I love is when you reply to their baguette speak with "I'm sorry, what? I don't speak French." in crisp American English and their eyes light up as they realize you are, in their minds, superior to them on the foreign language speaking totem poll.
Lmao @4head you gonna let him speak to you like this?

Scammed in Jabuuti? Saxiib, the whole country is a scam. The infrastructure of a 1970s, small UAE town and prices that would make Singapore blush. There's no need for them to scam me. They'll have me running out of dollars by the early afternoon either way.

That's the problem, you did not communicate effectively sxb.

The key is to say: "Combien shaaxda sxb. Je voudrais inaan cabbo cadeys mon gar."

Then they will accept your superiority.

f*ck la France :fittytousand:

I noticed most of the French speaking Africans suffer from a stockholm syndrome, the way they love and defends their former oppressors, and the way they worship the French language is pitiful and embarrassing.

My opinions on France is complicated.

They are both the most progressive and conservative society in the West imo.

The people of France, are generally ilbax, as they have accepted scores of immigrants and integrated them into society with little fuss. Also, it is home to the largest muslim population in Europe and is home to numerous post-colonial thinkers. Their football team, the entertainment scene and other sectors of public life is testament to their multi-culturalism.

However, the political class in France are a different story. A lot of them have not been able to accept the end of the French empire. Some of them still think it is 1960 and think they have an inherent right to Africa or an ability to lecture its people. This is seen in numerous policies and rhetoric that les nouvelles anglo-americains report on from France.

It is a very mixed bag.
