Wall Africa Journal | Somalia wants to sign a massive defense agreement with Türkiye

Erdogan will send his boys to standby when SNA attacks AS. They’re the backup option to make sure that SNA continues the offensive. Genuinely embarrassing how hard is it to defeat anorexic skinnies with rifles.
So turn SNA into cannon fodder for turks. How are you possibly defending this horrible agreement????

On the hand we got UAE circling around looking for a base so that they can get Wagner group in and do the same thing they did to Sudan. The other Arabs aren’t much better. AS is just a Trojan horse, this is much bigger than them. Your choice is to let the cancer spread or lose kidney and continue to live. Not much of a choice, better be a resource colony whilst you build yourself up. Get the Turks to upskill the somali people, a couple factories here and there. People need to give up on 100% perfect deals
A lot of words to just say you would prefer Somalia a colony to another power then it getting up on its own two feet

I prefer Türks to Ethiopians. I want them to be the ones training our soldiers selling us their weapons. And, I wish we had a better administration than this one.
The agreement said SNA will be integrated into the Turkish army, this is what I'm against. If it was just regular training and weapon shipment there wouldn't be an issue except they are turning SNA into cannon fodder with the integration

Is that really the first thought that came to your mind after you read "short term benefits"?
Yes that’s the first thought. If UAE actually gets an unfettered foothold in Somalia, the whole long term discussion is pointless. At least with turkey they aren’t looking to split us into little pieces and throw us into a never ending war. You are acting like there’s other choices here. Somali politicians, weak fake ulama, dhabadhilif garaads and isims and other money hungry grubs will sell us out to foreign powers. It’s just a matter of who not if.

The SNA will be integrated into the Turkish army direct supervisory training program, not into their army. Ironically they’re currently already doing that, but this will be on a larger scale, hence why other training initiatives with other countries will be cancelled and redirected to the Turkish army. In regards to direct military assistance, the Turkish army for the first time will send in troops to directly assist the SNA in their operations against AS, which in grand scheme of things would be a massive advantage for the SNA and FGS. Not only will they bring along elite trained military personnel, but they will bring in advanced military intelligence and hardware to help defeat AS. Hope this explanation helped.

On another note, for the Turkish government to do all this, it strongly signals that large amounts of oil or gas has been found, and they in turn are doing this to protect their investment. The next few months is a make or break for the FGS, it’ll be interesting to see how it will turn out.

can't believe we clowned SL for their MOU when we are doing shit like this:snoop:and just on the off chance that turkey will fill our begging bowl while using SNA as cannon fodder on the side

oh, it isn't as bad as I thought then if it's just integrated training and more reinforcements.

I think there’s a quite big difference between Ethiopia and Turkey. There’s also a difference in ceding territory to signing a defence agreement that will make us dependent.

Not hard to believe that Somalis (especially Jabartis and Koonfuurians) are insanely hypocritical, sxb. :samwelcome:

What's the point of this? FGS can't even pay their current soldiers on time and well. Somali politicians always trying to run before they can walk. The Turks are not gonna fight our battles for us. And getting new weapons won't change shit in a country run by corrupt looters.

We are lucky Al Shabaab is not as competent as the Taliban, because FGS would have long ago collapsed.

Literally fullblown colonial rule. If you give control of YOUR armed forces to another state what's left of your sovereignty?

Seems like a setup to me. Firstly they destroy the army and then they change the constitution instead of fighting shabaab and when shabaab takes over HSM own region he signs everything over to the Turks. He can’t do that unless this sequence of events which he created plays out.

Why calaacal now? Even a blind man could’ve seen this coming but everyone wanted their reer to win. I swear some were even cheering on UAE and Erdogan when ever they threw their clan government some pennies like a peasant in the 1600’s.

What no one has mentioned here is how the US will react. They literally had the defence minister sacked for his ties to turkey and said they’d even reconsider support against AS if the government didn’t. This is a major shift in geopolitical events, the UAE also isn’t gonna let HSM do this they’re gonna go all out on trying to save their influence and the US doesn’t want turkey in Somalia either. Only people I see happy are Qatar and turkey, but I’d prefer them to the UAE and our partnership with the US hasn’t been fruitful at all.

For those who think this is bad, foreign interventions got us here so you can bet I'm willing to witness just one last foreign intervention that is finally in our interests that will get us out of the current state.
