Ethics, morality, and proper social interactions should be taught at a young age to the upcoming generations in school.

The problem is really the elites of All clans who work behind the scene in whatsapp and yes all clans giving Intel and advice, they are not impressed with rural conflicts, maskin la dilo, single mother, khat eaters.

Their telling them we not spending a cent untill we see you harm their best, the only problem is since 91 to 2024 the best are outside Somalia not inside, so they say OK keep up the conflict untill we wait for someone arise among enemy clan who is worth a kill to settle scores. So their gonna wait till 100, 200, till 1000 years which is when me and my dad say this is madness, we understand clan justice but to wait 1000 years and keep Somalia in this state only due to those goals is going to leave no Somalis behind.

Another doom thread. No, it has nothing to do with the land, culture or people. The simple fact of the matter is that 4.5 and the government itself has held back Somalia for a long time.

Tell me, if Somalis were incapable of state building, why did the "civil war" end in 2006? The north had seen peace for decades under the autonomous states of Somaliland and Puntland while the ICU secured the south when it defeated the warlords. Somalis did that by themselves with no help.

Its insane. Somalis are largely peaceful and focus on development in Somaliland, Puntland, Djibouti, NFD and DDS whereas the parts of Somalia that are dysfunctional (Galmudug, Hirshabelle, Southwest, Jubaland) have seen a ton of foreign intervention and meddling.

It says a lot when Somalis in Ethiopia willingly laid down their arms and agreed to stop fighting the government when Abiy came in for the sake of peace and prosperity while the Tigrayans, Amhara and Oromos rejected his offer and decided to fight for power instead. Today, the Somali region is one of the fastest developing regions in Ethiopia that has seen little violence while the Amhara, Oromia and Tigray region have been set on fire.

The root cause of all of our collective misery is down to one simple fact: we have a truly terrible culture.

Not totally our fault of course, geography playing a major role. A culture bred in a hostile environment which breeds a zero sum mentality, that divides our society into segmented clan families all violently competing for the scant resources our meagre land provides.

A totally amoral culture where the strong trample the weak, where compromise cannot exist, where either I eat or you eat, reflected in the 21st century by the dozens of competing clan states and factions whose myopia has led to occupation of vast swathes of the south while factions in the north, apparently feeling left out of the foreign domination, are currently pleading with Ethiopia to similarly occupy their territory

Were we an agricultural society instead of mostly warring pastoralist groups, we'd have developed a sense of class distinctions, hierarchy, kala dambeeyn etc. Instead, we have a system where even the lowliest geeljire deems himself superior to a learned intellectual on a clan basis.

Nothing short of a far reaching and unfortunately bloody cultural revolution will change this sorry state of affairs.

Ethiopia proves you wrong though.

Ethiopia was and is an agricultural society yet they also have this zero sum mentality which is why they're all fighting eachother right now.

Ethiopia is a country where the "strong trample the weak" and compromise doesn't exist in Ethiopia either. That is literally why the Tigray and Amhara wars started because nobody in Ethiopia wants to compromise.
