I was reading this 4chan thread about a theory that Somalis went into a dark age. What do you think? Read the whole thread as they make an compelling point.
From what archeology has been done we know that Somalia has been inhabited for at least 10,000 years and was the location of the domestication of the "Arabian" camel. It is also the location of the kingdom of Punt, the Macrobians, city states that traded with Europe, etc. And then its dark and empty. Somehow all knowledge of these civilisations disappeared from the consciousness of the nation. Most the cities became abandoned or replaced by new pastoralists. The rest of history from late antiquity onwards is well preserved in oral traditions and written down by foreigners. Yet somehow we have no written script during the middle ages even though we had several before.

It's mind-boggling how this reset could have happened. There's genetic evidence such as a bottle neck over 2000 years ago in the Y chromosome haplogroups. At least 10,000 years of existence as a separate ethnic group but all men descend from a handful around 1AD? Several written scripts found but no one remembers them? There's no fucking way a city written in the periplus of the erythraean sea such as bosaso is now fully occupied by people descended from 1 guy around a few centuries ago. Who don't even remember anything prior to their progenitor.

Im talking about pre colonial era, did somalis ever face a dark age then?
Is this important? We have had many problems since the era of European invade. Forget the luxury of wondering what is unknown, and lets focus on nowdays reality — cause it’s a “Real” dark ages.

How did we go from punt/macrobia to city sates for a couple hundred years

The Somali lineage Y18629 is roughly 2600 years old. This will take the ancestor of all the Somali E-V32 men to the year 600BC. This can indeed change if we find older Somali lineages that branches off early from E-Y18629. Now this Samaale awoowe who lived 600BC could have been stationed anywhere in the Horn and not necessarily on the the Somali coast. Punt was recorded as early as the Old Kingdom 2400 BC of Egypt some staggering 4500 thousand years ago. I doubt therefore if the proto Somalis had anything to do with Egypt it would have been further up north on the Sudanese-Eritrean coast. The proto proto Somalis would have been stationed somewhere here as can be seen with the Z813 tree. This Z813 Awoowe who fathered us including the Oromo and other minor individuals such as an Egyptian and a Palestinian which are on the tree further reinforces the idea that Awoowe Z813 was indeed a Puntite based in Lower Nubia (Eastern desert) and had some branches move south towards the horn (Proto Somalis, proto Oromo) while another group got absorbed into the Egyptian Old-Middle kingdom empires thus explaining the Egyptian and Palestinian on it.

For the T lineage it’s even way shorter. The Awoowe of all the Somali T men lived roughly 1550 years ago which is the year 470 AD. A century before the prophet was born and just before the Aksum invasion of Yemen and the killing of the companions of the trenches.,

Us modern Somalis went downhill after the death of imam Ahmed. It was said the Somalis went into their old ways of tribal fighting over pastoral grazing lands right after the death of the imam.

Imam ahmed was a great uniter? Did he ever speak against qabil as his main focus was a religious conquest.
