Water Shortage across Somalia.

There is imminent drought that's sweeping Somalia. No state is safe from this calamity. Musiibo after musiibo we have yet to learn from our jaahil ways after 30 years. Banu Israel were wondering the desert for 40 years. Wonder how long it will take us.

Do you think the leaders across the country can come together to address this or will each go with their begging bowl to the gaalo while people here cheer how "superior" their clan is to the next Somali.

Face it people. This is the reality of Somalia.

It’s the sad reality. People would rather discuss which clans are better than which without a care for these problems. These problems will only get worse and it’s reported that in the next 10 yrs some areas of Somalia will be uninhabitable. However it seems Somalis would rather make fun of Gedo whilst being oblivious to the imminent threat than actually come up with a solution. On problems like these I believe we should collaborate with Israel. We must think of our people first. Israel is heads and shoulders above the world when it comes to water sustainability and have turned a desert into fertile farmland. Inshallah our people wake up from this jahiliya and actually help the country.

Hell to the fucking no. Balkanisation won’t solve anything it’ll make us more vulnerable. SL has basically been independent from the rest of Somalia for 30 yrs, laakin it hasn’t achieved anything. They measure their success through the condition of Somalia, but they can’t compare to countries who are in similar situations to them. With balkanisation it’ll be many little clan fiefdoms which will be quickly dominated by other countries then annexed. For Somalia to move forward these corrupt officials must be expelled along with their ragtag militias. Anyone who wants to be a politician must have skin in the game. If you want to be in a political position you can’t have foreign citizenship, businesses, properties in foreign countries must be handed over to the govt and your whole family must relocate with your children being enlisted into the military for the duration of your post. Also we must lower wages for politicians it’s unacceptable that such a large portion of out budget is wasted on salary. If these men want the same salaries as people in western nations let them make their country like a western nation. Also terrorists and there supporters must be executed and rooted out, we should have a maximum pressure approach. The politicians that have engaged in corruption must be arrested. Any political position must require vetting and a degree. We’ve had enough of inexperienced men running the nation. Balkanisation would spell the end of Somalis altogether. It can never be an option it’s only propagated by qurbajoog and the politicians who would benefit. All mps must be elected and all foreign contracts regarding ports, fishing rights and access to resources must be revoked until they’re approved by a proper parliament. These sessions should also be broadcasted as to show people what their politicians actually do. There should also be a policy where if 50% of a constituency is against their constituent that seat will be up for grabs in a snap vote. We can’t walk away from our country because of selfish men and their malnourished militias we must remove them like the cancer they are

It will keep getting worse and affecting many more areas unless it is addressed quickly
How do we remove this guys then its seems like where always stuck and nothing getting done im just so tired of this bs if we cant get simple things done what the hope then

its suppose to be raining season but it hasn't rained yet, there was flash rains in some parts doe majority is now facing drought if the Gu rains dont come in the next couple of weeks.

global warming must be messing up our weather. two years ago we had an unexpected cyclone and a few months ago we had an even worse one. the weather is getting unpredictable

It's quite obvious. Somalia is semi-arid, with only parts of the South and the deep South being somewhat safe of annual water droughts and shortages.

Corruption is never really removed once a corrupt lowlife leaves another comes in. It’s a never ending cycle. It’s up to the people of Somalia and the government to put an end to it. If SL had proper leaders this past 30 years it would’ve been at least a middle income country with good infrastructure and a strong military, it’s a region full of potential laakin our leaders only care about suitcases of cash and mansions in foreign countries.

As @Pwyneth Galtrow would say. Fix your house first before u provide advice to Somalia.

Puntland has around 10 'sand dams' to respond to future droughts, it was designed with water capacity to ensure survivability till the next rains come along. See @Pwyneth Galtrow can see my evidence first approach of showing you what I did in PL and then providing advice for Gedo is far better then your 'calacaal' where you implement nothing you say for Gedo.

War puntland xitaa 'abaar' haday gasho waxay haysata 'water reserves' in nearly every gobol, we are trying to reach 'water security' level, so when the droughts do come, our rural folks have a reserve they can tap into. PL is miles ahead of Somalia with it's sand dams.

We started this water reservoir project back in 2015, it's successfully running for 5 years so far, it's about how you can store rain water away and working out how much capacity you need and how many years it can hold you for untill the drought ends. The Dams are about drought resistance and resilience levels, droughts will come, the question is how long can a puntite survive in comparison to a 'gedoan', as u can see gedoans are already dying of thirst and it's only the beginning stages of the drought.

Plus puntites have organisations working on greening up puntland like dry land solutions

Why are you always derailing threads by bringing SL into the equation?
I'll make dua for you that your cudqad gets cured

First alshabab and corruption has to be addressed. Also the country must be disarmed. After that I believe the country will rapidly develop. We can start extracting resources and building key infrastructure like ports roads and schools. At that point everything will fall into place and Somalia could become a middle income country in 10-15yrs

Stop giving us your ideas, show us your ideas in gedo first, when u fix gedo, we will welcome you to fix somalia also. I spoke with two evidences. One was PL has water reserves that can hold it's people in the event of no rains for a long duration of time till the next rains come along.

PL has an active eco-system project under-way to restore the 'hawd' of many states and plant trees an other ecological plants. Surely you know how to speak on evidence 'first', start with GEDO, show us your ideas there, when we see GEDO at the same level of 'recovery' as PL, I will be the first to ask u for 'talo' ama 'advice' about my house iyo sidi loo hormarin laha.

But why would I ask your advice when I see gedoans dying of thirst and constant famines 'that keep returning every 5 years'. If PL had your 'river' resource, we would be building 'canals' to each 'village' and ensuring they 'store' that water. PL is the driest region in Somalia yet u will never hear stories of 'dad ba uu bakthinayo hunguri iyo biyo' kkkkkkkkk yet gedo is so lush and fertile yet your dying everyday near this lush and fertile land. Dhulka ayaa barakaysan lakin dadku waa inkaaran yihin is probably a better description of Gedo halka puntland dhulkisa ayaa inkaaran lakin dadkisa ayaa barakaysan.

Give me a puntland type people any day over a blessed land, a blessed peple is far superior to a blessed land, look at the south of somalia and how it's all beautiful and lush yet their people are always in famine, security dilemma, no horumar, infact those same southies come to puntland for a better life and living standard.

Where-as puntland land isn't blessed ecologically but it's people are blessed and has the highest human capital in Somalia, we are always leading the way in nearly every aspect of regional progress.

I don’t have any cuqdad against reer SL I just use it as evidence against people to prove that balkanisation won’t work. I’m sorry if you felt offended :cosbyhmm:
Are you dumb? Leaving the former Somali Republic was the best thing to happen to Somaliland. Somaliland saw zero development until we left the illegal union

In the last 10 years alone SL accomplished this and much more

-Opening of Livestock market and quarantine facilities

-Ceerigaabo road

-Hargeisa Water Expansion

-Berbera Water Expansion(+25%)

-Lascaanood water expansion(+25%)

-Electricity costs reduced by more than half from $1/Kw to less than 60 cents/Kw

- Successfull Oil explorations surveyed and completed

- Berbera-Wajaale corridor
